Order Within the Roman Empire In the time of empires forming, it was extremely hard to manage on how to make a successful society. The Romans were no exception to having to struggle to make a successful empire. From starting as a city-state in Italy, to the Kingdom of Rome, the Period of the Republic, and finally the period of the Empire; there were many different phases of the Romans through trial and error to create a “good society”. The simplest reasons as to what contributed to the Romans development of a good society was that they had a list of permanent laws that were created to bring order and stability. These laws were comprised into The Twelve Tablets. These tablets were a written form of the laws that applied to every citizen within Rome, whether that be wealthy or poor. The tablets were placed in the town center of Rome for all to view, these could not be destroyed and were a solid basis for all Romans. By adding different successful governments in one, it was allowed to create a concept like the US’s checks and balances system but within Rome. Considering the time in the Romans society, this concept of checks and balances by combining 3 different forms of government was unheard of but turned out to be a very good idea. This idea of creating structure particularly is highlighted within the Roman family and economics. Being able to have rich people provide for the poor with help back, created a win-win situation without conflict, always having jobs available and money constantly circulating within the Empire. Although there was these different structures and ideas to create new ways, the Roman Empire was constantly changing and due to this, the Romans being able to set a foundation of 12 rules/laws it created order despite the chaos that may arise. Finally, religion specifically created a good society because it allowed for every citizen within Rome to have that sense of peace that there were certain elements that they could think and use on their own without government
