After the events of a very long and painful war most of the Roman population had suffered greatly. So as a gift emperor Vespasian started the construction of the Roman colosseum in 70 A.D to 72 A.D. Though sadly the eventual completion would not be seen by Vespasian because he died during the construction. All of the labor getting the stone and the construction were all done by the hands of slaves. The colosseum was eventually opened in 80 A.D by Vespasian 's son Titus.
