Effective teachers monitor student learning through assessments that are built into the units. The assessments are given at the beginning, middle and end in order for the teacher to understand where students are succeeding and struggling. Effective teachers also provide feedback in order for the students to grow and gain a better understanding of where they can improve. The teacher explains to the students that they are to use this information to improve their learning and use it as a guide to instruct them on what they need to focus on. Effective teachers also breakdown diagnostic information from individual students to ask themselves "where am I being successful in my teaching or what could be impacting the students' scores?" I decided to take out questions 7 through 9 to use those as discussion questions during the unit. As for the other 6 questions, they stayed the same and were used on both assessments. I also use the same 6 questions as bell work for the students to turn in. This allowed me to see if the students were gaining more or no knowledge. The impact on student learning assignment also influenced how I went over instruction and included their prior knowledge in the content. Being able to enter in their grades for each standard allowed me to determine what areas need work. Also once the students took their assessments, I would read over their answers and then provide them with feedback. The feedback would be positive and insightful for the students as well as letting them know that they could come to me if they were struggling. I would use this data to improve students scores by also asking certain students particular questions that would allow them to grow and get to where they needed to be in understanding the content.I would also go back to the class as a whole and engage them in an in-class discussion which allowed students and myself to take their assessment and improve their knowledge. I believe constructive criticism allows students and the teacher to
This allows students to build more skills and identify faults so that they can improve for future annotations.
What assessment tools will I need? What are the differentiated class sections that are aligned with the objectives? How do I engage and promote the maximum effectiveness in the learning environment? Secondly, the Payment teacher data artifact helps to understand the intention of the students who remain in the course.
I incorporate this learned experience daily and learn through each success and discovered area of improvement. Addressing my students needs using a variety of assessment tools has been a beneficial practice to help guide instruction. Students have different learning styles and their strengths and weaknesses are not always apparent using the same methods of assessment. Utilizing formative, standards(goal)-based, anecdotal, observational and benchmarks has driven my instructional programs. The combination of different assessments provides me with a multi-dynamic perspective of my students allowing me to better understand their strengths, weakness and academic needs.
It is my goal to make sure students are not just memorizing facts, but are actually understanding. They should be able to take the lesson and apply it to other areas of their lives. I believe students need to be assessed frequently and routinely. The students need accurate and effective feedback, so they can make any necessary adjustments.
