1.0 Introduction This report is about movies that teenagers watched. It aims to raise awareness and make teenagers realise how the movies they watched had affected them mentally. Movies are categorised into different genres. Each genre is generally focusing on one part of the senses. For example, the horror genre focuses on the sense of fright and the comedy genre focuses on the sense of humour. Nowadays, watching movies has become a hobby to some teenagers. K-drama is an example of teenagers’ favourite drama. However, some teenagers apply whatever they watched into their daily lives. This aroused a problem when teenagers are not able to separate their reality from the ‘reality’. This report covers the history of movies, different types of movie genres, how the movies affect the mind of teenagers and how they apply it into their daily lives. 2.0 Background Information 2.1 History of Movies The creation of motion picture cameras started in the 1890s. Then, films were only a minute long until 1927 where motion images were created soundless. Then, the films became several minutes long containing some shots. For those who favours watching romance movies, they may talk in a seducing manner in such a way that may attract the opposite gender, etc. It may also affect the way we think. It will affect especially the subconscious mind. This is because this part of the mind store part of the information that is not immediately processed by the conscious mind. When someone is too obsessed with the movie, they may tend to act like one of the actors/actresses. It usually happens if the movie that they watched appears to have a more interesting and authentic life than the life that they have currently.
