Do you know who led the fight for independence against the Peninsulares? Well, the Creoles were the ones who led the fight against the Peninsulares, the Creoles desired independence from Spain. The Creoles wanted to gain independence from Spain because they did want to have such a controlled life; they wanted power over themselves an over the country. They did not want to feel like slaves.
