Rational More and more Americans are using the internet to view live or recorded videos of church services not simply as additions to their normal practice of physically attending a local congregation but rather as their only church attendance. With the explosion of what might be dubbed “video church” and the connection of social media, the church and its leadership is entering into a new realm where the life and function of the local body as well as church discipline will either be nonexistent or will need to change with the times. The demise of this practice may well rest in the fact that, by and large, contemporary Baptists have not been taught or do not understand the concept of a New Testament church (Norman, 2005, p. 64). One of the main functions of church discipline is to lead the sinning Christian to repentance and back into fellowship with the body of Christ. Bubna (1997) states that “Discipline in the church is always to be redemptive in nature” (p. 238). In 2 Thessalonians 3:14–15 Paul states: “If anyone does not obey what we say in this letter, take note of that person, and have nothing to do with him, that he may be ashamed. Do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother” (ESV, 2016). Another aspect of the practice of church discipline is to protect the rest of the body from the corrosive effects of an unrepentant brother or sister. Paul makes reference to this corrupting influence of sin that is left uncheck in the body when he says, “Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?” (ESV, 2016). Bethel Baptist Church never encountered a challenge like this before. The church accepted an invitation to participate in a mission in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Making an appearance in a foreign environment terrified both adolescents and adults. Even with those uneasy feelings, the congregation quickly zeroed in on the goal at hand in spreading God’s love to this needy region. With events such as church cleanup, food ministry, and disaster relief, the church left with a greater appreciation of life, and how lucky many of the citizens in the United States truly are.

Billingsley expands upon the issue of male youth in relation to the Black church in his chapter, “The Black Church and the Male Youth Crisis”. In the section, Billingsley introduces the issue of youths being uninvolved in the church making it difficult for the church to fulfill the necessary function of addressing youth concerns such as drug abuse, academics, etc. The issue is particularly salient when it comes to young black males because they lack many of the other role model’s others would have to help them. Yet, in response, Billingsley questions the legitimacy of the church non-action by discussing four churches who have already addressed the issue.

In this paper, I will be exploring the key ideas that Father Paul Holmes highlights in his book A Pastor’s Toolbox. The Social Construction of Evangelical Sexuality Kelsy Burke in her book Christians under Covers investigates various exclusive websites to demonstrate how some evangelical Christians have utilized digital media to discuss sex. Those websites develop people’s real world sexual practices and encourage them to explore sexual pleasure within a religious context. People follow Christian values that shape how they perform sex and provide them freedom to cross gender boundaries, while simultaneously perpetuating gender inequality. Baym’s chapter “Communities and Networks” explore how people are socially organized online using common values, beliefs, and identities. In the virtual communities, Evangelical Christians share the most important belief:
Our literature is shallow and our hymnody borders on sacrilege. And scarcely anyone appears to care.” This description of spiritual state of evangelical is even worst now than in Tozer’s days. The churches have compromised with the world so deeply that what happens in the outside world has to happen inside the church. The churches are shutting down in increasing rates and those that are still opened are producing more lukewarm believers than ever before.
Since she has been in a church fight before and promised God that she would never be in another, she does not want the congregation to continue with the investigation against Brother Procrastinator. She warns them that they would get into trouble and that “no church fight can be built on a lie”(5). She doesn’t want the church to be torn apart in the effort to dismiss the minister, but instead she suggests that the congregation pray for God to touch his heart if he is indeed doing wrong. “For after all, we are serving God, not man. I have attempted to discuss and support why a photography ministry for a faith-based organization/ministry would not be necessarily a “more suitable” but a perhaps a suitable option. I have given a theological rationale to support why a photography ministry coupled with running is a viable tool for an evangelistic move; why a sociological foundation in running and photography is necessary and how it translates easily as an evangelical tool; three, why social media is a necessary vehicle in which to carry these tools to specified audiences; and finally, how the vision, goals and success of the photography/running ministry is determined quantitatively and qualitatively by the ultimate leading of the Holy Spirit to which social media platform should receive applications of photographs or proclamatory expressions for specific times— so that the tools may not become cliché. It’s like a revolving door; people come and go. The message of this book is how to develop a church that keeps people in the church (willfully) and closing the door. Not necessarily through a program or new things to keep people entertained but rather a simple method which best reflects the new testament way of doing things. Sermon-based small groups work because they are focused on linear programs and relationships.
However, these communities were inclusive to only those who believed what they did. Many failed because there was lack of law and order. In Document B, Charles G. Finney that “the salvation of sinners will follow, going through the same stages of conviction, repentance, and reformation.” He claims that putting religion upon assumed “sinners” would break down and change their wicked hearts, turning them into righteous beings instead. Believe it or not, religion, which is “the service and worship of God or the supernatural” (Webster) is far more common than the average Joe notices on the surface. A large amount of people wouldn’t see religious aspects in their everyday life except for those they practice and even then, most are limited to a single day if even that. With the proper lens it is possible to gaze deeper into everyday occurrences and see factors such as subliminal meanings and blatant themes that have religious values to accompanying them. This theme of religion in popular culture can be seen popular aspects of everyday life.
