Interpersonal Communication

The means through which people exchange information and feelings either by verbal or non-verbal communication is called interpersonal communication. In this type of communication, what matters is not just about what is being said, or how the language is constructed. Instead, it focuses on how a person delivers his thoughts to another. Because there are many concepts associated with interpersonal communication, this paper will focus on how interpersonal communication affects long-distance relationships.

Through this, partners are able to fully understand their relationship. To do this, there are ways to keep interpersonal communication healthy. First, partners must talk about their needs and desires. In here, Besski (2013) argued that parties engaged in a relationship must understand each other 's views on issues so that they are able to find a common ground and keep themselves happy despite their differences. Second, it is vital to be open and sincere. Meaning, partners should express anything that bothers them (Besski, 2013). The more that communication is kept poor, the more that those issues are kept inside. This somehow weakens a relationship because honesty is a principal thing, most especially in long distance relationships. Third, communication also means building trust. Besski (2013) contended that partners must know each other 's boundaries. Hence, one person should not only love another for what he or she is, but also for what he or she is not. It is also important to note that partners must be able to keep their communication regular. They can even be creative about it. When a person exerts an effort, his or her partner will feel loved and attended
