Edger Allen Poe is an incredible author of horror. His story, The Masque of the Red Death, was an amazing chiller about a party that was ended by a disease. Throughout the kingdom a disease is spreading from citizen to citizen, killing each one who possesses it so the king invites those closes to him to a party where no one can leave and will be safe from the disease but yet in hindsight they were locking themselves in with the disease. Throughout the course of this hair-raising story, several symbols are represented to array Poe’s theme of death. Symbols such as the seven colored rooms, the clock, and lastly the Red Death are all symbols that are displayed to help get Poe’s notion across.
Was Poe “The Masque of the Red Death, 200 years ago” have been talking about the modern day disease of Ebola? I don't think he was talking about Ebola when he wrote the story. First because I didn't really even hear about Ebola till like 4th grade and he wrote this story 200 years ago.

Within the castle, the ball takes place in seven different colored rooms, each with a different mood. The last room, where nobody dares to enter, consists of an Ebony clock with a boisterous chime and an atmosphere which breeds the feeling of death. Prince Prospero throws this extravagant masquerade ball in lieu of the plague dying out, but as the Ebony clock strikes twelfth o’clock the Red Death escalates throughout the whole castle slowly but surely killing all the guests, as well as Prospero. Poe goes on to say that “with such precautions the courtiers might bid defiance to contagion. ” By Poe saying this he is trying to portray to his attendees that they are safe behind his castle and that The Red Death will not enter. After reading this line it seems to be that the Prince is putting the attendees at his party under false pretenses that nothing will happen to them as long as they stay under his castle, though later on as the story goes on they will soon realize that they are sealing their fate to meet with The Red Death very
