Edward de Vere: The True Author Imagine if William Shakespeare, one of the most praised English writer, was actually a fraud. There has been a question going around whether Shakespeare, supposed author of works such as Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet, was the true author of the works attributed to his name. From Shakespeare’s lack of education, traveling, and manuscripts; there have been many suspects as to who the true author may be, but the most convincing arguments that have been made have put Edward de Vere, also known as the 17th Earl of Oxford, as the most convincing candidate. There have been arguments made such as his great knowledge, the markings in his bible, the correlation between his life and that of the character Hamlet, and so on.

In Shakespeare’s plays, King Lear and King Henry V, they both use King Lear and King Henry V as protagonist in the plays. Both kings use their powers to fulfill a calling where they try to discover how to become a great king, but also rediscovering of who they really are. Other characters perform as an act to persuade or to guide the audience to this revelation, focusing on the kings and their society overall. Therefore, both King Lear and Henry V are two significant characters that show their humanity despite their societal positions.

Throughout the pieces of writing How to Read Literature Like a Professor and the character speech from Shakespeare’s Henry VIII, one notices that there is an outstanding similarity between the speech and Foster’s chapter twenty-six, which deals with ironies. In the character speech, a cycle of sorts is introduced. This cycle details the three basic elements of human civilization cleverly disguised as a plant’s life cycle. Beginning the cycle is birth of a human civilization, this being symbolized by hope in the writing, which then evolves into advancement denoted by blossoming. This cycle is ended with death caused by a frost.
There are many different views of honor. To some honor means fame and recognition, to others honor is not even relevant, it is only a word, with no true meaning or substance. The idea of honor meaning fame and recognition comes from Shakespeare's character Hotspur, a nobleman of the time. Whilst the idea that honor is not tangible or necessary comes from another character, Falstaff, a drinker who has very little motivation. Whereas, the third idea of honor is from my own belief.
In Shakespeare’s Henry VIII, Cardinal Wolsey undergoes a series of tone changes while considering his sudden downfall from power. On a deeper level, however, the tone changes represent stages of loss; therefore, the soliloquy considers how the Cardinal is psychologically affected by his downfall. Through several poetic devices such as allusion, figurative language and tone, Shakespeare explores Cardinal Wolsey’s immediate psychological effects due to a sudden fall from grace.
Primarily, the main reason for class divisions were to clearly define the line between the lowest and highest on the “totum pole”. Keeping things running smoothly between the variety of people that lived during that time was ideal for the royalty to have their land in control. For example, in Henry V royalty was relevant and the class system there was pretty obvious since it was present in the medival times. Having class divisions in Henry V helped define the line of respect towards the King and establish a common ground for the soldiers and the commoners. One of the different aspects of class in Henry V was the unique interactions with his soldiers.
Did Shakespeare really write what we give him credit for? As many people know, many predict that Shakespeare wrote all the work that has been credited to him. In his short 52 years of life, he is reputed to have authored 154 sonnets, 2 epic poems, and 37 five-act plays. However, the question that everyone asks himself or herself if Shakespeare really wrote all that has been a controversy for many years.
The Elizabethan Era was a time where men were in charge and women and children were expected to obey. Nowadays, men and women have equal roles in society and one gender is not better or smarter than the other. During the Elizabethan Era, men, women, and children all had specific and defining roles. Men had a dominant role in society during the Elizabethan Era. Men could do many things that women were not allowed to do.
