The Bard of Literature Modern day literature was shaped by Shakespeare, one of the greatest playwrights of all time. He came from a big family and had a wife and three kids. He wrote plays for the masses instead of the rich and wasn’t afraid to make fun of the rich either. He wrote famous works of literature such as Romeo and Juliet. If the world didn’t have Shakespeare the average man would not have an education.
Romeo makes it very clear that he loves Juliet. He is shown to be very realistic to today’s
King Henry V is Shakespeare’s great heroic leader. Throughout the entire play he listens and talks with his troops in such a way that his speeches still motivate us and others. Henry being a good leader first recognized that nothing can be achieved without the people he manages and leads in other words he recognized the power of “we”, the power of union. His speeches may still be applied in today’s corporate world. Shakespeare’s Henry’s speeches are masterpieces of communication between a leader and his subordinates.
Once again, Shakespeare was able to bring his characters to life. By blending love, emotion, tension and anticipation together, a masterpiece was created. Julius Caesar was not only the main character, but he was a man made up of words, words of Shakespeare, that perfectly represented the three views that made him complete; the inner personality of Caesar, his physical traits and other characters' views of him. An important figure in Rome, a part of the ruling council and a great leader that was admired by all.

He combined both of these concepts in his work and believed that humans have great intellectual power and should have the opportunities to use their abilities to the fullest.

In September 2008, at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC, Michael Mack (a professor) presented his opinion on the value of reading Shakespeare as a speech to college freshman. While presenting his opinion, Mack makes a compelling argument that even though reading Shakespeare is hard, it is worth it in the end and not only is it as important as other courses you may take in college but you will also gain something from it. His use of rhetorical devices and claims helps him support his argument.
