Hinduism affected the lives of its followers in many ways. Hinduism is a polytheistic religion meaning that hindus’ believe in more than one god. Their gods consist of Brahma, the creator, Vishnu, the preserver, and Shiva, the destroyer. Hinduism has many holy books. Vedas, the collection of hymns and prayers and Upanishads, the basic ideas of Hinduism. Hinduism has no single founder, it was founded by a group called the Aryans. The goal of Hinduism is moksha, which is the union with Brahman. Brahman is when you have union with the soul and you are free from reincarnation. Karma is all the actions of a person's life that affect the fate of their next life; it affects your new life when you get reincarnated. Dharma is the moral duties of an
Religions of the Ancient World Of the seven religions/philosophies, most are polytheistic, with Judaism, Christianity, and Islam as exceptions. These three religions are the three major monotheistic religions, meaning they all only believe in one God. Being a Hindu, you should be grateful, strong, patient, gentle, good, generous, and truthful, as said in the Ancient Indian Epic, Mahabharata in 400 B.C. Hinduism has a Caste System (Doc. 3), which greatly influences the Hindu people. The four major castes are: The Brahmins: priests, The Kshatriyas: warriors, rulers, senators, presidents, and majors, The Vaisyas: farmers, merchants, lawyers, and doctors, The Sudras: unskilled workers, and the Other sub-castes: “untouchables” (Doc. 7). Buddhism
This religion believes in the art of reincarnation, which is being reborn into another creature. Hindus believe in multiple gods, but the most important one is Brahma, the Hindu God of creation. They also believe in karma, a law of cause and effect by which an individual creates their own destiny by their actions. According to Document 7, Hinduism is constructed by a caste system that is also followed in India. The system divides Hindus into hierarchical groups based on their karma and duties.
Hinduism and Buddhism When thinking about religions, you may not realize that many of them played a huge role in history. They helped unite people, set social standards, and create features of different cultures. Two examples of this is Hinduism and Buddhism. They helped shape each other and are similar in many ways, though they still have differences. Hinduism mainly shaped Buddhism.
There are several ways in which religion could affect the lives of its’ followers. Hinduism and Buddhism are both good examples of religions that prove this theory. Despite their similarities and differences in beliefs, both religions hold in common the impaction of religion upon their believers’ lives. Hinduism is a belief system that originated in India. Hindus believe in reincarnation, or the rebirth of the soul.
The founder of the Buddhism religion was Guatama Buddha this religion was founded in 654 BC. There is no founder of the religion Hinduism. According to some resources it is said that Hinduism is not basically a religion but it is a way of living or a substance of life. The spreading of Buddhism religion had started from India and it spread among many countries. There are two types of Buddhism according to some sources, Theravada Buddhism and Mahayana Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism is quite different than Theravada Buddhism as it refers to the daily practice of meditation by Buddhists.
Hinduism and Buddhism are both two religions that are similar, yet different in many ways. Known to be one of the oldest religions in the world, Hinduism began in India about 4000 years ago. Hinduism was originally practiced by an ancient population, the Aryans. About 2500 years ago, or 1500 years after the beginning of Hinduism, a prince by the name of Siddhartha Gautama realized that even princes can not escape illness and death after he saw those who suffer from them. It is said that he practiced praying, meditating and fasting until he was given the name Buddha, meaning the Enlightened one because of his understanding of the truths of life.
Hinduism was the first to start here in India. According to Document A, Hindu people believed in many gods and they believed in the process of reincarnation. There was also a caste system in Hinduism. This system separated the people into groups where they had different jobs. Also they believed in karma and dharma.
To some people religion is their entire way of life while to others it is just a side thought. But to almost everyone religion affects their lives everyday in some way, whether it just be in the back of a mind. Religion affects the lives of its followers by telling them the rights and wrongs, giving them someone to follow, and explaining why things happen to allow its followers to gain access to some variation of heaven. Religion affects its followers lives by telling them the rights and wrongs of life. In order for Christians and Jews to please God, they need to not kill, steal, or commit adultery among other things (Doc 1).
The spiritual aspect of Hinduism shows the overbearing power of the “Brahman”. The Brahman also known as the World Soul comes from the sacred text of the Bhagavad Gita given to Lord Krishna. The Brahman is ones deepest self, the identity that remains beneath one’s changing self (Griffen). In Hinduism, this God is the basis of all creation, and all power worshipped in the religion. The Brahman lies at the root of all who show devotion to other gods.
Karma is an extremely important part of the Hindu religion. I believe that a complete description of the word karma is when your current actions greatly have an effect on your future. In other words, your actions will determine your consequences. What goes around, comes back around. Hinduism was first studied in India.
The reason Hinduism is so varied is due to the variety of texts and scriptures that makeup the Hindu belief system. Many of these beliefs were not originally written down, rather much like Buddhism; they were simply passed down generation to generation. The Rig Vedas, is known as the most important of the Hindu scriptures due to the account of the origin of the universe. (Molloy 2013) Although the Vedas are the primary scriptures, there are others including Agama, Tantra, etc.
Judaism and Hinduism have many things in common. Both ancient religions believe in a higher power and both began as being specific to a certain region before later expanding in the late 19th century, with Judaism originating in Egypt and Hinduism taking its roots in India. With that being said, there are also several differences between the two religions. Hindus believe that we are reborn from a previous life until we achieve “oneness”, which is the unity of all beings with the Divine. Jews, on the other hand, believe that we are created in God’s image with the capacity to either be good or evil.
This ideology fits into my core belief that God is one and everlasting. Karma is one of the key foundations of the doctrine Hinduism. Karma refers to deed or act and in Hinduism cause and effect or action and reaction rules all awareness. Similarly, Hinduism believes that desire is the root of human pain and suffering. This concept resonates within my being and is in line
Hinduism was the most important and dominant religion in India even though it was strongly challenged by both Buddhism and Islam. In my opinion, there are various essential factors that can explain the success of Hinduism. For example, Buddhist religion, the major force in Asia, was unable to retain the popularity of India because it denied the existence of a soul, which ran counter to traditional Indian belief. Also, it rejected the class divisions that defined the way of life in Indian appealing to those groups, such as the untouchables, who do not have an accepted place in Indian society, but for those people, who have a higher status, this represented a threat. On the other hand, Islamic religion had other beliefs very different to those
Personally, after learning Islam, Christianity, and Judaism these religions mainly focus on one single God. However, Hinduism and Buddhism these two highly connected religions contained several Gods of their followers to worship. Different gods have their own purpose of existence and the story behind them. Nonetheless, since Hinduism is such a complicated religion it is hard for younger generations to remember. Thus, Vedas, the knowledge, was created and was Indians earliest surviving compositions.
