Money Buy You Happiness

Do you think money can buy you happiness? I believe that it can. Money can buy you happiness, but not for long. The things you get with your money and just having that money can go away just like that. Let’s say, you just received a check for $2,000 and you buy a car. You are very happy that you got that much money, but you are happy that you just bought a new car. Then let’s say five months from now, you are on your way to a friend’s house and you get into a wreck. You have insurance, but they won’t cover the damage and you don’t have the money to fix it yourself. Now, you are not happy that you have that car and the money. Money makes us happy because it shows that we’re not poor, but also shows that we earned it. Money can buy fame. Many people who are famous are because of their money, talent, and the things they have. Like a fancy house, nice new car, etc. Now, everyone at some point in their lives have felt prideful of their money, jobs, and the things they have that others don’t. A study conducted in 2010 by Daniel Kahneman and Angus Deaton showed that money does buy us happiness but only for a limited amount of time. The study also showed that people who had a salary of $75,000 were happy but people who were making more weren’t happier. (Hamburgh) Having lots of fancy things can make people happy. Such as a house, car, phone, and computer. Michael Norton said, the problem is the way we spend money doesn’t pay off our happiness. I agree with Michael Norton because many people spend their money on sex, drugs, etc. When the sex is over, and the drugs are gone we are left with feeling unhappy and/or
