After enduring the past three decades encompassing two world wars and economic depression, Australians sought peace and security in the post-war era. Although this new era had brought both economic and political stability, Australians continued to live feeling vulnerable and fearful.1 From 1949-1966, Robert Menzies lead Australia through the post-war era as his second term as Prime Minister and became the longest-serving Prime Minister in Australian history2 as the leader of the conservative Liberal Party. During Menzies' second term he held strong priority on eliminating the communist influence in the union movement and believed that this goal could only be achieved by abolishing the Communist Party. In October of 1950, he kept true to his election pledge and The Communist Party Dissolution Act 1950 (Cth) was passed into law by Parliament, making the Communist Party and affiliated bodies illegal.2 In the words of the Bill, a communist was 'a person who supports or advocates the objectives, policies, teachings, principles or practices of communism, as expounded by Marx and Lenin’.3
Continuing to major section II, the researcher developed a theoretical perspective including a literature review. The researcher had to know what the current base of knowledge was to make a contribution to the topic. MSH and DMH websites provided information about their mission; as well as their services. With the subject of funding mental health care being a hot topic right now, the researcher was able to get a considerable amount of information from agency documents and reports; as well as the local media. The researcher also used scholarly peer-reviewed secondary sources from Belhaven’s online library databases.
James Richard “Rick” Perry (born March 5, 1950) served as the 47th Governor of Texas from 2000 to 2015. It was in December 2000 that Perry became the official Governor of Texas (stepping up from being the Lieutenant Governor since 1998), since the then-governor George W. Bush resigned to become the President of the United States. George Walker Bush (born July 6, 1946) served as the 46th governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000. Though both of these Republican politicians share some mannerisms and characteristics, their Governing styles were pretty different. Perry, contrary to his West Texas counterpart, was much more conservative.
Introduction Something of an enigma in that he was solidly socialist in his foundational views, themselves built on a Christian ‘social gospel’ which sought to improve industrialised society through the use of the biblical principles of charity and justice, at the same time Tommy Douglas worked with and through the capitalist system that he abhorred. An implicit nationalist in that he held the good of the Canadian people above other countries, Douglas was predominantly anti-liberal as he believed that public ownership was the next evolution of democracy, replacing a system where the “major economic decisions affecting the lives of ordinary people are not made by…the government of this country.” ’ (Aivalis) While he has now passed away his track records in both the national and provincial

Throughout Canadian history, free trade in particular has changed Canada and it’s economy for the better. The free trade agreement (FTA) signed in 1989, assisted Canada’s economy in many ways, such as removing most of the tariffs on trade goods, increasing trade with the USA, and leading the way to the creation and signing of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). All of these boosted Canada’s economy and strengthened the bonds with new and old trade partners. After this agreement was established, it becomes clear very quickly that the FTA was exactly what Canada needed. As well as opened new doors to opportunities for Canada.

The number of young people experiencing mental health difficulties is on the increase. Statistics show that more than one in two young people will present with some form of mental disorder by the time they reach the age of 24 (Cannon et al. 2013). Good mental health is fundamental to the ability of young people to remain healthy and to enjoy their lives. It enables them to develop and succeed, to participate in and contribute to society. Over the past decade mental health has come to the forefront of public consciousness.
As of 2015, 5 in 100,000 girls and 14 in 100,000 teenagers commit suicide (Lewis). Teenagers are becoming more vulnerable and schools seem to be taking no notice. If these lives could be saved, it would help so many families across the united states. The National Institute of Mental Health states that there “are as many as 25 attempts of suicide to every one that is actually committed” (Eco Child’s Play). Suicides can be prevented by treatment of the illness.
In American society, there is an ongoing list of political ideologies. These political ideologies range anywhere from the commitment to traditional values (conservatism), to the freedom and openness to change (liberalism). Whether it is authoritarian conservative, anarchism, socialism, progressivism, pluralism, toleration, etc., everyone is entitled to their own views. After doing research on several ideologies, I found myself closely associated with liberalism.
One in ten children and adolescents will experience a period of major depression (“Mental Health Myths and Facts”). Many avoid the topic of mental health like the plague. In truth, people should be able to talk about mental illness and its repercussions on society and the individual. A minority of those affected with mental illnesses get help. Therefore, it is important to discuss possible solutions to helping those who suffer get treatment.
Liberal Democracy is a democratic system of government in which individual rights and freedoms are officially recognized and protected, and the exercise of political power is limited by the rule of law. The word democracy is greek, the word “demos” means people and “kratos” means power. The idea of liberalism first began in the 1600’s with John Locke as he believed that the people should be allowed to remove the government currently ruling when they have misused their power for ulterior motives. Although the seed was planted in the 1600’s, liberal democracy only properly took form in the 1840’s in Canada. Australia and New Zealand followed not long after as they began to use the secret ballot system to elect political leaders.
