Our life changes every day. 20 years ago mobile phones were something extraordinary, 10 years ago hardly anyone knew what is a social network, and today my grandmother posts selfies on her Instagram account with her iPhone. If everything around us changes so fast, the working life of our generation cannot remain the same either. Dozens of factors affect the way we work now and greater changes are yet to come. Thousands of years ago people were engaged in agriculture and worked with their hands. No greenhouses, no fertilizers and, of course, no machines. The development of the sphere was slow and the changes occurred gradually, however, it was agriculture what gave rise to the first cities and the first civilizations. The industrial revolution brought machines and factories into the World. Manual labor became less popular and unemployment became a problem; education started to be more important as qualified people were needed to control the machines. In the 20th century service sector started to become more important than industry, but yet people were paid mainly for the hours they spent at work, not for the actual outcomes. During this time people thought of their job as of something permanent and steady with predictably gradually rising pay. This is another upcoming trend in working life of future generation. One job for most of the life will be unavailable for the majority of people and they will eventually shift to working on fixed-term contracts. The idea of being unemployed will be understood as being between jobs, and it will become a part of life of almost every man on earth.
