How positivity can change your lives The decision of switching your way of thinking from a negative to a positive way can change your life. Every person decides her or his life style. Each one of us is capable of changing his or her life. I don’t think that people have bad lives because it’s their fortune and it’s meant to be. Instead, I think that they are capable of creating their own lives and the “fortune” is just an excuse to give up. People look for excuses to give up on being positive because they lack the knowledge of its benefits and effects on health, mind state and career. Positivity might be the key for a happy and a successful life. I don’t think it’s just displaying a fake smile and pretending to be pleased and positive. Instead, it is a way of thinking and a state of mind. To me, positive thinking is an art that should be taught, practiced and showed. Is your glass half-empty or half-full? A question that has become a stereotype for a test that …show more content…
Norman Vincent Peale the author of the book “The Power of Positive Thinking” discusses in it his theory that positive thoughts have the power to influence your success in life. He says: according to quantum physics, the reason behind the power of positive thinking is that your thoughts have a “frequency and a corresponding unique vibration that will attract other aligned frequencies into your life”. So basically, negative thoughts will lead to negative events while positive thoughts will lead to positive events. If you have bad thoughts, scared of something that might happen or even expecting something bad is about what might happen to you, your family, or the world, the matching and corresponding frequency of these thoughts will eventually draw these energies into your life and will be fed by any present fear that you direct toward it. “Try to eliminate fear messages from the media that attempt to bombard your consciousness”, a saying that grabbed my attention while skimming through his
In the Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls analyzed her mother’s emotional breakdowns. In one instance, she notices “... the positive thoughts would give way to negative thoughts, and the negative thoughts seemed to swoop into her mind the way a big flock of black crows takes over the landscape, sitting thick in the trees and on the fence rails and lawns, staring at you in ominous silence” (Walls 418). Negative thoughts can consume one’s mind, whereas the positive thoughts are nugatory. The negative thoughts keep a person agonizing and stressing over it. This quote emphasizes how a negative mindset can make a person depressed or ill to be around.
First, I could definitely realize the power of positive thinking. When Brian was on the plane and after he crashed into the lake, he was hopeless and frustrated and full of self-pity. However, when he recalled the words of his old English teacher, Mr.Perpich, who constantly encouraged his students to think positively and to
Any obstacle or disadvantage may be turned into something good if you really want to change what the situation is. In the book “The Glass Castle” Jeannette Walls went through a plethora of obstacles and disadvantages in her life that caused dilemmas for her, yet they never stopped her. In the book “ The Outsider” just by the fact of being born a greaser was already a disadvantage and there was still more obstacles to come, but that didn’t stop Ponyboy from trying to change his situation for better. Some people say that usually when you’re in a difficult situation where there are many obstacles and disadvantages in your way, you should either give up or just move to somewhere else where the situation is easier. I’ve heard this from more people than I can count and there are still many more with different ideas, but that lead to the same conclusion as said above.
It directs the actions you take, your energy and most of all your thoughts. Life will show up for you according to how you think it is; and if you regularly maintain the belief that life has a consignment of enjoyable things you will find and see them. Do you think Oprah Winfrey would have gotten to where she is now without a positive mindset? I think not. She came from poverty to one of the world’s wealthiest women all because she is one of the biggest believers and supporters of a positive mindset.
When my son woke up he was a completely different person. This change in him prompted a change in everyone in our family a new birth, nothing has been the same in our family. Positivity The word positive symbolizes all that implicates good things in my life. I have noticed that when I believe in the power of positivity things go well for me, almost as if I can will good things to happen. I believe in the power of the word of positive
Living long, healthy lives is a massive focus of many Americans today, while on the contrary, focusing on happiness does not truly bring happiness to one 's life. Experiencing other emotions such as sadness, fear, and anger are as important in life as happiness. In the article “Don’t Worry, Be Gloomy” author Susan David states, “While it is certainly not healthy to constantly stew in negative emotions, there are some positive things that sadness, anger, guilt or fear can do” (126). David gives five reasons bad news can be good news: Helps form arguments; Improves memory; Encourages perseverance; Ups generosity; and Boosts ability to reason.
Have you ever been stuck in the wilderness alone? 13 year old Brian Robeson has. He was stuck in the Canadian Woods for 54 days. He had to use survival strategies like these to help him survive. He uses trial and error, his hatchet, and he thinks positively.
The final example of positive thinking is during the plane crash. He made the decision to jump out of the plane into the lake then to jump out of the plane onto land. He did this because thought he would have a better chance at surviving. The final survival strategy Brian used to survive the forest was observation.
While good and evil thoughts and actions occur in everyone’s lives, some people may experience more of the good, or more of the evil. The luxurious fantasy to sit on the couch and sleep with a soda and a slice of pizza whenever one would like is a great ability, but not everyone has a life as comfortable as that. Some people are forced into a troubled life that takes over their humanity and childhood. Different actions and words can change someone's life for the good, and for the evil. Struggling through the hard times is something that all people have to experience, but some are able to push through and find the good.
In the two books Freak the Mighty, by Rodman Philbrick and The Friendship, by Mildred. D. Taylor, the main characters brought positive change when they were vulnerable. In both of these books, people were vulnerable, but were able to bring positive change, whether it be to either themselves or others. In life, everyone at some point in time is in a tough position, but you can always bring positive change, no matter what the circumstances may be. For example, in Freak the Mighty, one of the main characters, named Maxwell, befriended a peculiar kid named Kevin that was much more intelligent than him, but was very small and was not very mobile.
In every school there are set policies and procedures so that all people working within the school are aware and stick to the same rules. Consistency is imperative. All adults working in the school would be : teaching staff, support staff, lunchtime supervisors, kitchen staff, governors, after school staff and temporary staff. There are many policies in schools that children and staff should be aware of.
I believe that pursuing happiness as a goal has detrimental effects. As a society, we tend to believe that we need to be full of joy at all times, but that isn't realistic - life happens. By attempting to be cheery all the time, you will never be genuinely content. You will always be searching for more and won't be satisfied with what you have, creating a permanent cycle of gloom rather than bliss.
What difference might it make to you to alter negative thoughts? What percentage of your thoughts are largely unproductive or holding you back in some way? What feelings and bodily sensations do these thoughts evoke in you?
People can best respond to conflict by staying positive because it affects their physical and mental health in a helpful way and can affect others around you in a positive way. It can help someone greatly in stressful situations when their life could be at risk. Positive thinking is one of the best ways to respond to conflict because it can affect your physical health in a constructive way. The Mayo Clinic Staff states that a positive attitude can, “Increase a person’s life span, can help them build up resistance to the common cold and cardiovascular disease, have better physical well-being, and better cardiovascular health”. Carl Rogers is emphasizing the importance of the self-actualization tendency in shaping human personalities. He believes that in the development of self-concept, positivity is the only key. Human beings develop a real self and ideal self based on the conditional status of positivity. Rogers believed that fully functioning people could achieve "the good life," in which they constantly aim to fulfill their potential and allow their personalities to emerge from their experiences. Here, I am claiming that human should think at positive level.
