The suspense in the story is very important because it adds to how the story is being told, and how the reader portrays the story when reading. The suspense is developed while Rainsford is talking with General Zaroff about what the most dangerous game is, the readers are left wondering what could this game be and why couldn’t Rainsford think of it. It is sustained after we find out what the most dangerous game is, Rainsford then request to leave but the only off the island is to be General Zaroff’s game and to beat General Zaroff.
