I presented a book report in front of my English 3 class and educated the audience about Robert Penn Warren's life and career as a writer, as well give my opinion on the book All the King's Men: one of Warrens most popular. I spoke clearly, used my hands, and gave my facts about the author and book. I learned how calm down and talk in front of the class with confidence. I used creative thinking by presenting with my hands and using body language. My power point was appealing to the eye and was detailed with facts. I used creative thinking in my presentation and the way I made it, my presentation was filled with facts about Robert's life and his novel All The Kings Men. I used critical thinking in my presentation I presented about
Successful public speakers tend to use the canons of rhetoric elements to craft their presentations in a way for their speeches to be more effective. The canons of rhetoric used in this presentation were intervention, arrangement, style, and delivery. Intervention is determining the goal of the presentation as well as the conducting research and providing facts to back the message. The arrangement of the presentation was well thought-out, the message was clear and concise from the beginning to conclusion. Style fit this presentation well and was arranged in a way to keep grasp the attention of the audience.
Pausch received at the end of his lecture, it would be fair to conclude that it had a great impact on his audience. This lecture portrays how the effective use of basic presentation techniques can create a spellbinding effect on an audience. Dr. Pausch’s lecture gave me a new perspective on life and my career goals. One of his quotes that stood out for me was: “Wait long enough and people will surprise you”. I completely agree with this based on the experiences that I have had as a student at Michigan Tech.
Presenting a speech, so it is effective, is not always an easy task. For instance, in Julius Caesar, Brutus and Antony speak to the crowd back-to-back from each other, yet one speech in particular makes an impact on the crowd. After both monologues are given, it is crystal clear who is the most favorable of the two in the Roman’s eyes. One, in particular, used spectacular tactics so the crowd would change their point of view on the situation.
Giving a speech whether being for the public or not, offers personal, professional, and public benefits for the individual. The individual might find it easier to obtain a profession, build better relationships amongst peers, or even propel social movements by carefully constructing and delivering a well thought out speech. A speech needs to be excellent in order to do such things; it needs to have a clear concise thesis, a preview statement, a great organizational pattern, supporting material, memory, delivery and good representation of oneself. Thus, during the process of constructing and delivering a speech, one must have those aspects. This will ensure the speaker will deliver a powerful and moving speech.
Have you ever thought of what goes through the mind of infamous public speakers? How they did it? well maybe if you knew what you were looking for you could find out. The main elements a public speaker uses to construct their speeches would be what type of propaganda their going to use, and what persuasive aspects should they use to capture the audience attention. Famous public speakers such as Martin Luther King Jr. , Ellie Wiesel ,and Adolf Hitler used the same exact guide lines for the speeches that gained them prominent publicity.
Attention First and foremost, for deliver the speech speaker need to gain the attention of the audience since if we do not have their attention we can not persuade the audience ,speaker can grabs the audience’s attention and orients them to the issue use a humorous or dramatic story, a question, a quotation, a startling statement, etc. For example, in a speech designed to get the audience to concerning about the obesity from unhealthy food ,Jamie Oliver open the speech by using a dramatic opening “Sadly, in the next 18 minutes when I do our chat, four Americans that are alive will be dead from the food that they eat.” Jamie grabs the audience attention by questioning how in short time four people can die from the food they eat. 2.
Once accomplished, the next step is creating a presentation that does just what the idea should do. The presentation of both the speech and the visual effects
If you're not interest in what you are talking about then no one else will be. I will try to put some humor in speech along with some analogies to help my audience picture more of what I am talking about. This will help them out and me while giving my
When politics gets involved in family affairs, relationships often become tense and go awry. This is especially true for Willie and Lucy Stark, the once happily married parents of Tom Stark in the Southern United States during the 1930’s until Willie’s obsession with politics leads him to develop flawed character traits such as arrogance and infidelity. While disputing the issue of their son’s participation in football in the novel All the King’s Men by Robert Penn Warren, Willie and Lucy Stark each use strategies described in Thank You for Arguing by Jay Heinrichs in an effort to get their ways until the issue is resolved. As the spotlight shines on Tom for his outstanding performance in college football, he becomes arrogant similar to the way his father did from his political success.
I used more gestures that on my last speech, I moved around more, and I maintained eye contact throughout most of the speech. I did smile at the beginning of the speech, but I did not at the end. I also feel that when I went back to my seat I did not leave a good “pow” statement for the class to think about. For my next speech, I could improve my delivery with less exaggerated gestures, and less stuttering. I still need to focus on dynamism and
Philip K. Dick’s, The Man in the High Castle, is an alternative history novel set fifteen years after the alternative ending of World War II, in 1962. the novel concerns conflicts between Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany (the victorious Axis Powers) as they rule over the former United States. In the novel's parallel history, U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt was assassinated in 1933, leading to the continuation of the Great Depression and U.S. isolationism. Thus, the U.S.'s military capability was poor to stop the Nazis from exterminating the Soviet Union's Slavic peoples and the Japanese from conquering Oceania.
The Man in the High Castle’s pilot debuted in January, 2015 and became Amazon’s “most watched pilot” since the inception of its original series development programme. This success tasked Amazon and the showrunners with the responsibility of living up to an immense amount of expectations when the whole season was released later. The entire first season of The Man in the High Castle was made available to viewers on November 20th, 2015. While TMITHC is not flawless, its thrilling story and alternate-universe setting still makes for a great watch.
Demonstration Analysis I recently did my demonstration speech on how to make a lava lamp. In my opinion the speech went very well. The specific purpose of my presentation was for my classmates to be able to make their own lava lamp to help them take care of kids they have to babysit. I believe I did a very good job at explaining the procedure of making a lava lamp step by step.
In my Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition, students are often mandated in reading various novels and classics that reveal inherent human themes such as the Great Gatsby and the Great Expectations. While these mundane and dull novels are dreaded by my classmates and peers, I look forward to reading these novels, captivated by the delicate and entertaining equilibrium of plot and theme. I am often engrossed by these literary masterpieces in their profoundities of morality and society. One of these classic novels that I greatly cherished are All the King’s Men by Robert Warren Penn. When I first begun reading the novel All the King’s Men, I felt betrayed and cheated due to the lack of politics that was replaced by emotion and drama.
As students, presentations are something that is required in most classes yet, students do not see themselves as public speakers. Throughout high school and now in college, I have had to present material in 80 percent of the classes that I have taken. Presenting was, and still is something that I struggle with no matter how big or how small the group is that I am presenting to. I knew that Public Speaking was a required class for me so, rather than putting it off, I decided to go ahead and get it out of the was as soon as possible. Speaking in front of people is out of my comfort zone.
