A Christmas Carol by Israel Horovitz This story is about a mean old miser who changes and becomes nice so how did a mean old man change?. Scrooge was a mean cold-hearted old businessman who lived in London during the 1800s. Some things Scrooge hates are Christmas, beggars, carols, and just happy people so he lives alone and nobody likes him. Late one-night scrooge is sitting when the door starts to rattle the door opens and a ghost appears scrooge talks to the ghost and asks him who he was in life the ghost replies my name was Marley I was your business partner in life scrooge noticed that the ghost was covered in chains, metal purses, lock boxes, and safes he asked him why he was covered in those things he replied I was greedy and selfish he told him if you don't change you will have the same fate as me three spirits will try to change you good luck he said. …show more content…
Later that night scrooge meets the ghost of Christmas present unlike the other spirit this one is happy Scrooge looked at the big tall man and he took Scrooge to Bob Cratchit’s house and he showed Scrooge how even though they are poor they are happy people this event makes scrooges perspective on hardships better. The last spirit Future appears this spirit looks like the grim reaper he takes Scrooge to when he dies people are stealing from him and nobody cares about his death this terrifies Scrooge he begs the spirit that he will not be mean anymore and the spirit lets him

Well, that person is Scrooge from the play, A Christmas Carol by Israel Horovitz, Scrooge is a very successful businessman who cherishes the money he makes so much that he refuses to do anything to help others. Mean and disrespectful, Scrooge even underpays and mistreats his employee, Bob Cratchit. His dead business partner, Jacob Marley, comes back to haunt him in hopes of changing Scrooge’s character. If Scrooge does not change his ways, he is doomed and will be trapped by his earthly sins for eternity.
‘You were always a good friend to me,’ said Scrooge. ‘Thank `ee!’ “ (Dickens 1). This shows how Scrooge was misanthropic and one catalyst that sparked Scrooge's changes is the ghost visiting him. Another example of how Scrooge was is also in Stave one, where Scrooge tells his nephew what he thinks of Christmas.

In the novel A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens, we are introduced to a grumpy old stingy character named Ebenezer Scrooge. Scrooge is visited by the three spirits of Christmas and undergoes a change of heart. The spirits visit him during his sleep and he goes on journeys through time, I think this is all part Ebenezer’s mind. Scrooge is depressed and is a schizophrenic, a person who has severe mental condition that interferes with the normal thought process, causing delusions, hallucinations, and mental disorganization. Through his schizophrenia he goes through periods of time with the “spirits”.

He is ready to take on what the Spirit has for him because he knows that is the only way he will become a better man. The Ghost of Christmas Future takes Scrooge to different moments in the future, where a rich man died and no one cares about it. The Spirit then takes Scrooge to the man’s headstone, where he sees that his name is on it and realizes that he is the cold-hearted man who no one cared about. He then says, “ ‘Assure me that I yet may change these shadows you shown me, by an altered life’ ” (Dickens 18).
Scrooge has started to really understand what he has done wrong in his life and how selfish and mean he really is . Scrooge is seeing how people treat him when he is dead but Scrooge has no clue they are talking about him. Scrooge is showed the future but Scrooge thinks he has already changed completely because he has no idea that the person the men are talking about is him. Scrooge is changing fast but he has not seen the shadows that have not happened but will happen soon "You are about to show me shadows of the things that have not happened, but will happen in the time before us," Scrooge pursued.
