It is said that the average person spends approximately _ hours daily looking down on their cell phone, that’s 4 years of their lives.
I find it astonishing that we as individuals have allowed technology and these anti-social devices to take over us to the point where they control our very lives, destroy friendships and break up relationships.
However I honestly feel that we have the choice of whether or not social media and technology will negatively or positively impact our lives.
Technology has had a positive impact on my life as it has given me the opportunity to learn about different cultures and societies, share pictures, trade ideas, reconnect with old friends and most importantly as an individual with many relatives living oversees social media has definitely assisted me in staying in contact with them, we easily share photos and the happenings of our lives with just a few clicks thanks to technology.
I feel that the many advances in technology in the world around me has made it possible for me to widen my personal knowledge and discover things I never even knew existed.
Politically, social media has benefited me as I have been kept up to date

Technology and social networking has destroyed the true meaning of human interaction. Technology has made things easier, but that does not necessarily mean its made things far better. As a young adult myself I feel that technology is the reason why I have grown up in an entirely different society to that of my relatives. I, like many teenagers now rely on social media platforms to communicate with peers, keep up with the latest trends and enjoy living in my own little world. I honestly feel that most advances in technology has ruined how our lives should be, adventurous, fun and exciting. Instead it has turned so many of us into anti-social couch
I agree because a lot of people my age, including me, shop, search everything, and many other tasks online. It is even easier for adults to do things online now, Carr says he pays bills, books rooms, and send invites. We even use social media to speak to each other instead of how we use to talk to eachother way more often. We are victims of using the internet to connect to each other. We as humans are drawn to new means of technology, it changes our emotions as we continue to use it, and we use the internet to do more online tasks.
I think the Technology is killing our friendships because people are spending more time on their phones than hanging out with their friends. “ 94% of teens who have a smartphone get on it daily” (Tarshis, Pg. 19). That is how much kids get on their phone a day when they have free time during the day. When kids do hang out with each other, they still use their phones than talking to each other. Technology is killing our friendship because “76% of teens have social media of these.
Technology is making us so Antisocial Is technology making us social or antisocial? This is the burning question of our society, isn’t it? It continually haunts us that whether we’re progressing towards a golden future or ultimately dooming ourselves. The addiction, the long hours spent, the disruption of mental peace, all are the outcomes of social networking.
Living in the technology age our constant need for technology and the internet has changed everything about a person’s daily life. Technology has replaced the ability for deep, meaningful thought and even the need for face-to-face human interaction. Today people don’t have to put in a lot of work in order to find information they are looking for. They can find it easily at the touch of their fingers on the internet. They can even have relationships on the internet.
Everyone has a cell phone nowadays. My little brother, who’s 9, knows how to use a phone more than my parents do and my sister spends a lot of time on Facebook. Since we have social media in our pockets, we are constantly connected. We are becoming dependent on it. Our dependence is making it harder to create things.
Imagine being in a room full of people, but no one talks or looks at each other. In fact, each person is plugged to a machine. This is how technology has affected society. Some people believe that technology has begun to manipulate our brains, while others claim it is taking intimacy from our relationships. The writers, Nicholas Carr and Sherry Tunkle, explain in their articles how internet use is affecting the way humans think and feel.
Technology definitely is affecting how humans communicate and interact, but that does necessarily have to be a negative thing. For instance, the popular social media application Skype, has kept over 74 million people from around the globe connected with one another. Despite humans spending much more time with their devices, like in “The Pedestrian”, many are not using this time to mindlessly stare at the television. Skype is just one example that connects people who may be a long distance apart, but will still spend an average of 100 minutes a month (“Skype Company Statistics”) still keeping in touch with one another. While some do use their their screens to block out the people around them, a majority use their smart phones and computers to keep connected with their
When I am at work I see coworkers, managers, janitors, and everyone around me on their smartphones. Now there is a rule that if we caught on the floor with our cell phones we get written up, or suspended from work because instead of working people were paying less attention to the customers and more to their social media. Every day people around us get into severe, and deadly accidents because of the internet. We have the internet on our phones and that access' us to social media. At stop signs, stop lights, freeways, and school zones I see at least one person who drives with one hand, and has their cell phone in the other.
More importantly, it has the ability to bring people at par with one another providing them a common advantage, irrespective of their locations, social and cultural backgrounds. It has reduced the distances and brought world closer. It has broadened the outlook of people by enabling them to gain an understanding of other cultures, meet people from different geographies on earth, maintain and strengthen family relationships, communicate effectively with others. When people today mostly work away from home, technology keeps them connected to their family. Users can find anything being promoted, discussed, or tagged on the Internet, whether it is consumer products, scientific ideas, youthful infatuations, or terrorist agendas (Wellman and Gulia, 1999).
Since social media came around , there’s have been a decrease in real-life conversations , More people are building a relationship online and drifting away from the real world. It's starting to cause a lack of face to face communication. Teenagers don't even pay attention to the outside world or their surroundings when they’re on their phones. You get easily distracted when you are on your phone. Also technology causes you to miss out on your sleep and losing sleep have negative effects on your brain.
According to Lindsey Craig in her article “Technology -- we all love it and we all use it, but how is it affecting us?” she stated that “Technology is making us more alone, because instead of interacting with our friends in person, we are dependent on using our phones or tablets. We start to compare
Social Media: Affects Relationships As technology progresses more and more, there have been great changes that have made our lives more easy and efficient. There are many advantages that technology has brought upon us, one in particular is the Internet. The Internet has allowed people to be connected quickly to information and be updated to the issues and happenings around us, but the social networks that have been invented to allow long distance connection have been resulting in negative outcomes for society and our generation. Social media gets in the way of building actual relationships, makes people become inauthentic about their lives and lowers their self-esteem, and has become a dangerous and threatening nature. During these days, it seems as if nobody can live without checking their social media accounts, whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
There are still points that require being fixed, but the positive effects outweigh the negative ones. Social media is a very precious tool that can be used to meet new personalities, and allow people to be in touch with friends and families; it positively affects the world by empowering people to educate and work online and gives space for
We depend too much on technology. There is no doubt about it. Many places of work are at a loss if their internet connection stops working. Many businesses and institutions are left high and dry if the internet or computer crashes. Every bit of information regarding business is entered into the computer.
Benefits of new technology Technology has grown rapidly in the last few decades and has contributed into many aspects in human life. Technology is a broad concept that has come to refer to breakthroughs in science that enables a better solution or automatic. With technology, there are many benefits that can be achieved by people. Day by day, technology made human live become easier and improved. Recent developments in technology can be seen and felt in many industries, but there are some areas that have benefited more than others.
