stabbing the body behind a curtain who he believed to be Claudius's. Hamlet was proud exclaiming, “nay, I know not. Is it the king”(Act 3, Scene 4, 26-27). Hamlet found out that it was not the king who he killed, but an innocent man Polonius, and a whole new bad chain of events grew into Hamlets life. In the process of taking revenge, Hamlet accepts the challenge of a duel in which he is struck by a poisoned blade. This duel is what ends Hamlet life, but it would never have even occurred if the Ghost had not pushed Hamlet to take revenge. The Ghost began by troubling his life, and escalated it’s actions into being responsible for the death of Hamlet. Hamlets mental health due to the Ghost affects his relationship with the girl he is in love with, Ophelia. Without the Ghost sparking Hamlets psychotic personality, Hamlet would have been able to deal with Ophelia in a much better way, and probably create a relationship with her. Ophelia is also affected as Hamlet kills Polonius who is her father. Due to the death of her father, Ophelia commits suicide. Without the Ghost Hamlet would not have mistakenly killed Polonius, and Ophelia and her father would still be alive. The most major character affected by the Ghost besides Hamlet is Claudius. Claudius got away with murder, and if it were not for some supernatural force coming back to life, he would have continued to get away with it. Hamlet's actions cause Claudius extreme stress throughout the play, as Claudius knows what he did was wrong. Hamlet's actions lead to Claudiouses death as Hamlet stabs in with a poisoned sword before his own death. Without the Ghost Claudius would be home free, and would have never had to deal with the nuisance of Hamlet. The ghost not only had an effect on Hamlet, but also destroyed other major characters
