I. This research paper is about how the internet has changed our lives. I will be discussing the effects and the use of having internet. The effects include the advantages and disadvantages of using internet.
The internet has revolutionized communications. In fact, this is one of our most preferred ways of communication. In almost everything we do, we use the internet. Based from the article I have read, the internet itself has been transformed. Before, it was a static network designed to shuttle a small freight of bytes or a short message between two terminals. It was a repository of information where content was published and maintained only by expert coders. Today, however, immense quantities of information are uploaded and downloaded over this electronic leviathan, and the content is very much our own, for now we are all commentators, publishers, and creators.
II. How has the internet changed the industry for the last two decades?
The internet mainly changed our means of communication. We can use internet in almost everything we do. We can post what we feel, what we

If we want to talk to someone, it would not even take us an hour to do so. I don’t even think it will take us more than five minutes to make an effort of talking to someone we want to if we use internet! That has to be one of the advantages the internet brings to us. The internet has done so many wonderful things to make our lives easier, but using the internet also has some disadvantages. Since I am talking about the internet as a mean of communication, I will give an example of one serious disadvantage of being an internet user. Cyber-bullying. This has and never will be a joke to any individual. Cyber-bullying has always been a problem not only to our country, but all over the world. This has always been a problem because some people get depressed, terrified, anxious and some people even commit
The internet makes things faster, but faster is not always necessarily better. The internet provides us with a way to research, a way to go deeper into topics for more information, and essentially expand the information available to us. The article, Is Google Making Us Stupid?, written by, Nicholas Carr, goes deep into exploring the effects of the internet on people. As the internet becomes part of our everyday lives we must ask ourselves what the consequences are. The access to information at anytime and anywhere through the internet is altering people's ability to develop their own thoughts which lowers their independence.
Carr explains that because our brains are constantly changing, the technology we use has an effect on us. He uses the invention of the clock as an example. It caused us to rely on time to tell us when to do things instead of our senses. The author writes the many tools being replaced by the internet now include various distractors. He has noticed that the influence of the internet has extended into traditional media, which has become shorter to rival the convenience of the internet.
We are now just one click away from buying a car or communicating with someone halfway across the world. “The Internet has revolutionized the computer and communications world like nothing before. ”("Internet Society."). Scientists and engineers like Roberts and Kleinrock worked very hard to put their ideas down on paper to describe this global communication through a network. The first form of the Internet was originally called ARPANET.
Although Deibert provides strong points on how the internet has positively and negatively impacted our nation, he only looks at the internet as a whole rather than looking at specific subunits of the internet. Ronald Deibert opens his essay by explaining the impacts the
We can now learn what news articles and history books do not want us to know. With reliable sources and facts, we can learn exactly what happened to those who died in the hands of police or the countries falling under their governments without the biased and discriminatory news outlets. We can learn about ourselves, in a society where gender and sexuality has progressed further than it ever has in history and validation could help someone. We can learn that through social media people from all around the world can connect and come together. Beyond the internet, there is fear that technology will take our jobs.
The internet could be the most valuable invention that was made in the modern age. With the force of the web individuals basically can do anything. From learning how to cook to building a car. The possibility is endless. The modernization of the internet can have positive and negative effects on the world.
Nicholas Carr's argument against the internet was very strong, and it persuaded me. It is very difficult for me to go against his opinion. I agree that the internet is changing us, but not in ways we think. There are long-term effects of using the internet as often as we do. He states that the internet is changing the way our brains function such as having a shorter attention span, negatively changing the way we critically think, and negatively changing our reading skills.
For example, chatting through technology has its flaws, when compared to talking in real life. Nowadays, when people text, people can not express emotions, tone, or voice, like people could with talking face to face (Toadvine). This is important because emotions are a huge part of talking with another person, and technology does not allow the use of emotions, tone, or voice. Additionally, the introduction of phones to society has changed the way people talk to each other, and this may be a bad thing.
Technology is getting bigger and bigger each day. With the advance of smart phones, tablets, and laptops it’s become much easier for people to keep in contact with their social media. People can easily stay in touch with friends all the time on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram and by texting. Many people are taking advantage of that opportunity and that seems like people are becoming more sociable but actually it is making people less sociable. People are spending too much time on their phones instead of having a face to face conversation.
Internet has transformed our day to day live personally, socially, politically and professionally. The internet impacts our personal, social and business lives. When we wake up in the morning, we use our internet device to check the weather, the news and our social media site. When we get to the office, we check our business emails and respond to them. Before the wide spread use of the internet about 32 years ago people use to talk on landline telephones and people use to TV that use analog equipment.
We depend too much on technology. There is no doubt about it. Many places of work are at a loss if their internet connection stops working. Many businesses and institutions are left high and dry if the internet or computer crashes. Every bit of information regarding business is entered into the computer.
