Week two of Tiny Houses expanded on the history of tiny houses and how over time it became such a huge movement in today’s generation. From the 18th century to present day, tiny homes have been become efficient and sustainable but still keep the main idea of self-sufficiency. I found it interesting that over the years that houses became bigger yet families became smaller. Wants became more important than needs over time. However, today’s generation sees the aspect of living life much differently than the older generations. The idea of living small has been so common they have TV shows about building and living in these tiny homes. The film Tiny was much like the other previous film Living Small. The movie discusses the purpose behind wanting

The idea of independence and freedom from Britain was a large concept during the time of the Revolution. The taxes that the British were imposing on colonists often led to uprising that amalgamated the colonists together. This idea united the Northern and Southern colonists to fight British imported goods. Every person has their own definition of home. In the story “The Round Walls of Home,” Dianne Ackerman is saying her home is the earth. She uses the word “round” because the earth does not have walls like normal homes, but the walls are the outside of the earth, making it round in shape. When most people describe their home they would mention the color of the walls, what sorts of belongings, and how many rooms. But, Ackerman describes her home as a, “big, beautiful, blue, wet ball.”

Secure Dwellings: Rejoicing in Hope Secure Dwellings continues to assist homeless children and their female caregivers throughout the state of Alabama and surrounding states. The program is currently serving 10 mothers and 22 children as of this board meeting date. I often wonder how they able to continue live with all of the unfortunate circumstances and experiences that have cause their lives to be in disarray, some situations due to poor choices and sometimes due to no fault of their own. The more I ponder that question the following scripture came to mind, “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
The automated house is shown to be intelligent and has several amenities such as automated clock and food burners. One of the house’s characteristics is when it states that the “tiny robot mice darted. The rooms were a crawl with the small cleaning animals, all rubber and metal… Sucking gently at hidden dust. Then, like mysterious invaders, they popped into their burrows.

"The Veldt" by Ray Bradbury describes the events of the Hadleys, a family living in a completely automated house. The children of George and Lydia, Peter and Wendy, take an interest in the "nursery", a room designed to reproduce any place they imagine. While the children spend so much time in the nursery, the parents reflect about how much they don 't do as parents--the house does everything for them. George reflects on his parenting by having an exchange with his wife, clearly stating his remorse for buying the nursery room. "
