Have you ever felt left out or unappreciated. That's how the 2 characters from the book Of Mice and Men felt one . John Steinbeck wrote this book in the year 1937, this book is about two men named George and Lennie. They were looking for jobs in a place called Soledad because Lennie caused problems in a town called weed. When they finally found a new job everything was going great until Lennie kills a character's wife named and the guy’s name is Curley. But Curley’s wife and Lennie are similar because they don't get enough respect, they get treated the same and they both caused problems in the ranch and they are both lonely. My first reason why I think this characters are similars is because Lenny and Curly's wife are both lonely. "I never get to talk to nobody. I get awful lonely "What's the matter with me? Ain't I got a right to talk to nobody?"Seems like they ain't none of them cares how I gotta live" This quote shows how curley's wife thinks she’s lonely and the no one cares about her and she gets upset that no one want to talk to her." George, you want I should go …show more content…
Lennie Is treated differently just because of his mentality and Curley’s wife is treated differently because of her gender. She is the only woman on the ranch. Lennie dreamt of having a farm just to tend the rabbits. And curley’s wife had a dream of becoming a movie star. Both of their dreams didn't come true. A difference is that Lennie has George always by his side and Curley’s wife has no one because her husband is always out and she feel lonely. “ Listen to me, you crazy bastard don't even look at that bitch,’’ he said fiercely.(30) That quote is about lennie and how George tell him to not talk or look at curley’s wife because he has a feeling that she is going to cause problem. I think this quote is showing how Lennie and Curley’s wife get treated the same because they are both are getting cursed
Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck, is one of those novels. Published in 1937, Of Mice and Men is centered around two runaway men named George and Lennie who travel to California in search of a job during The Great Depression. In Of Mice and Men, foreshadowing is utilized in many cases throughout the story, such as Curley’s hand being crushed, Curley’s wife being killed, and the death of Lennie.
Lennie and Curley's wife are having a conversation in the barn, after Lennie accidentally just killed a puppy and covered it in hay. All of sudden Lennie got scared and the same thing happened to Curley’s wife after she let Lennie touch her soft hair. John Steinbeck uses imagery and characterization to show how Curley’s wife changed after she was killed.
But what people don’t really pay attention to or think about is why George did it, but if you look at their background story and everything, it shows that George and Lennie were best friends for a long time, some could even call them brothers. Lennie isn’t the brightest bulb in the box, so George couldn’t really get mad at him when he accidentally killed Curley’s wife. George understood that Lennie didn’t mean to kill Curley’s wife, just like he didn’t mean to kill all those mice. George also knew that Curley’s wife was tricky, sly and good-looking. George realized that Lennie like her, especially with her soft hair.
person can act physically, doesn 't mean a person can get lonely at times. Being a migrant worker can be hard at times, but being in an environment where everyone looks down on you can be even harder. These examples above, are many reassurances that Lennie often gets lonely without George by his side. Although Curlys wife is married, and and has a life with curley, doesn 't mean she can get lonely at times.
Mrs Birling and Curley have a lot of key factors in common like how Mrs Birling controllers her family still feels she has the upper hand over everyone in her family this is show “what an expression. Sheila really the things that you girls pick up those days!” Curley believes that his wife is owned by him and he has more power over his wife. This is shown when everyone asks him how come you have a glove on all the time he says “it is filled with Vaseline”.
”(Steinbeck 88). Curley’s wife unwittingly sets up Lennie to change the entire course of the book and further complicate the situation for them. Lennie ends up killing Curley’s wife in a situation she never should have been in, but her nosy behavior brings her to her doom. If Curley and his wife could produce a real conversation maybe everyone could have gotten their dream to come true but somethings just do not pan out. Curley’s wife can be vicious in about any way just like she is to the other
Curley's wife tried reaching out to someone she could relate with, someone who also struggled with people. She unfortunately causes a ripple effect going through till the end of the book, she tells Lennie to “Feel right aroun’ there an’ see how soft it is” this seductive line is an failed attempt to become friends with Lennie, without thinking of the impression she could be giving out to other men of the ranch and to her husband Curly. As a consequence of her actions, Lennie started applying pressure resulting in her panicking then causing Lennie to get scared and kill her. Towards the end of the book Lennie is shot due to the fact that George thinks Lennie is a threat to other people. Curley's wife could be seen as the cause of this and therefore portrayed as a villain in the reader's eyes.
¨Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty.¨-Mother Teresa. Seclusion is painful. There is nobody to open up to, nobody to help bear the weight of stressors, and nobody to empathise with. Almost everybody has experienced seclusion during their lifetime. While loneliness is less apparent in everyday life, it is a common motif in books.
Curley’s wife is very lonely and isolated because she is the only female on the ranch and nobody keeps her company, as her husband Curley is always busy. Her gender and femininity isolates her from the others because the ranch workers believe that she's a "bitch", "rattrap", and "jailbait" (34) only causing trouble and allowed to "talk to nobody but Curley, else he gets mad.” (87) When talking to Lennie, she says that “[she] get[s] lonely.” (87) and very bored. Her attempts to engage with the other men with her feminine charm on the ranch only pushed them further away from her, as everyone knows that if they spoke with Curley’s wife, they would be punished.
Of Mice and Men is a novella that was written by John Stienbeck, which follows two men, George and Lennie, who have been forced out of town and are in search of work. George acts as a caretaker for Lennie, who is portrayed as mentally disabled. Throughout the story, George struggles with internal conflict; Lennie is a constant reminder of a better life that awaits him if he didn't have the burden of caring for him. Lennie has sensory issues, which enables him to start harming small animals, which eventually progresses to him killing Curley's wife after touching her hair. George finds out that Curley's wife is dead and “understands what he needs to do.”
Published in 1937, the novel Of Mice and Men was written by John Steinbeck. Of Mice and Men is the story of George Milton, an intelligent but uneducated man, and Lennie Small, a bulky, strong but mentally disabled man who want to scrounge enough money together to someday buy their own little house and a plot of land to farm. However, Lennie keeps getting them into trouble so they can’t finish their jobs. Ultimately, George is forced to kill Lennie after Lennie kills Curley's wife. George was not justified in Of Mice and Men for killing Lennie because they could’ve moved somewhere else instead of killing Lennie and that George and Lennie were basically family.
The brutal sexism on the ranch directly correlates to Curley’s wife being dehumanized. In the chapter two scene, George tells Lennie to stay away from her. This is clear dehumanization. George seems to know what a woman like Curley’s wife will do to Lennie. He makes this claim without knowing her at all.
(87) More specifically, the other men on the ranch refuse to talk to her because Curley’s position of power on the ranch portrays him as having the ability to have any man on the ranch lose their job. Furthermore, when Curley’s wife was conversing with Lennie in the barn and confided in him, she said: “Well, I ain’t
She is the only girl on the ranch, and because of this, she faces difficulties from the boys. Curley’s Wife was just trying to find someone to confide in, and Lennie was there, but because she could cause trouble, Lennie wasn’t allowed to talk to her. She says to Lennie, “‘Why can’t I talk to you? I never get to talk to nobody. I get awful lonely’” (86).
Curley's wife says that to Lennie when he is stroking her hair and that leads to her death that affects Lennie's future of getting shot by George.
