Throughout Shakespeare play Macbeth, Lady Macbeth was regarded as ruthless, cruel and manipulative, although it was suggested there was more to her character. Lady Macbeth is not as evil as she was portrayed to be. Lady Macbeth had a strong relationship with her husband, they trusted each other and were loyal to one another. Through her words and actions she showed humanity that others didn’t expect from her. A wicked person wouldn’t feel the slightest guilt for something wrong they have done, yet Lady Macbeth felt culpability that lead her to her downfall. To begin, the relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth was a strong, loving, equally based relationship. She was devoted and loyal to him until her unfaithful day. After Macbeth was told the prophecies, he immediately sent a letter to his wife, calling her his dearest partner. This shows how Macbeth treats her as an equal and was truly in love with her. By the end of the play, Lady Macbeth realized the consequences her and her husband are going through. She tried to save her out of control relationship by drawing him from plotting. However, she was too weakened by her own psychological guilt that left her drained and was unable to stop Macbeth. In fact, due to her guilt of taking part of the murdering, she started sleepwalking and having delirious visions. These visions make her believe she has blood on her hands that can’t was off, symbolizing what’s done cannot be undone. Furthermore, she started fearing for her life after Macbeth has sent murders to kill Lady Macduff and her children “Thane of Fife had a wife, where is she now?” (Act 5 Scene 1). The reason being is because Macduff betrayed Macbeth who flees to England. She wasn’t able to deal with it no more and her solution was death.
