Abstract:
The language of global warming is widespread and almost everyone is familiar with it. Children are taught it starting as early as in the primary years. When we hear words like ‘greenhouse effect, cfc’s and ozone layer’ we can visualize polar bears without ice, smog over big cities in developing countries and sun rays penetrating the skies and burning our skin and causing cancer. This is why I am interested in this topic because I know English is one of the dominant languages of the world.
The issue of global warming has developed to become a controversial question around the world and my research question shows how people are being manipulated into believing Global warming through language, what are the reasons that people become easily to be persuaded?
