Scrooge’s changes The story A Christmas Carol was written by Charles Dickens. In the book A Christmas Carol Scrooge was mean at the beginning but as the book kept going he was visited by 3 ghost and by the end Scrooge is no longer mean to people. In stave 1 Scrooge rejected the poorly men for donations and after he did that he felt good about it.
In the beginning of A Christmas Carol, Scrooge had a terrible fate if he didn’t decide to change his ways. In A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens wants us to understand that mankind’s business is caring and helping others because it is the nice thing to do as shown through Scrooge’s changing view of family and caring. Scrooge doesn’t believe this in the beginning of the book, he believes that making money is the true meaning of business. In Stave One, Scrooge thinks business is money and it makes him mean and greedy.

Some people believe that he had a change of heart because of his fear of death, but I believe that it was a genuine change in his behavior. Scrooge starts to regret how he previously acted with his money, how little most people cared about him or even wanted to speak about him, and his own neglected death. This makes him regret what he has done and sparks his change.

In the novel A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens, we are introduced to a grumpy old stingy character named Ebenezer Scrooge. Scrooge is visited by the three spirits of Christmas and undergoes a change of heart. The spirits visit him during his sleep and he goes on journeys through time, I think this is all part Ebenezer’s mind. Scrooge is depressed and is a schizophrenic, a person who has severe mental condition that interferes with the normal thought process, causing delusions, hallucinations, and mental disorganization. Through his schizophrenia he goes through periods of time with the “spirits”.
Scrooge remembers emotions from his earlier years; he recalls what it feels like to be loved and cared for. Tears come to Scrooge’s eyes as he ponders a memory of his sister embracing his younger self. He remembers the tender affection, and the deep connection that they shared. Ebenezer regrets the ways that he cherished money over his dear sister and over Belle, the love of his life. As he watches his younger self, Scrooge recognizes that his business took over his life, resulting in his disconnection with his sister and Belle.
Christmas is special for many reasons. Not only for the fact that it only comes around once a year, but also for the fact that Christmas symbolizes a time of joy and togetherness. Christmas is the time of the year where you are to reflect on yourself and do something nice for someone else. Most of all Christmas is a time for family and unity, which was shown by the Cratchit family.
