Many years had passed since people thought the world was ending. They thought the world was ending because the Mayan calendars had said so, but their calendars were obviously not one hundred percent accurate. Many missionaries had gone all over the world and they had lots of success. Although they had success there were people who still did not believe in the one and only true God. There were still people who thought that there was no God and it was stupid to think that there was a God. Most of the people’s opinions were about to change. There was living proof on it’s way that there was a God that was real that would come to rescue all the people that feared him.
It was a warm and sunny day, yet things were not very peaceful. The air seemed

Whenever they disappeared all of their stuff they had with them would be laying on the ground with no one to claim the stuff. Even clothing fell to the ground as people all over disappeared. There were immediate reporters on the scene trying to get the whole story and even a shot of someone being there then being gone. Most of the non christians knew what was going on because the missionaries that had continually kept coming had told them about this ‘Judgement Day’. A lot of them were relieved that this was finally happening because they could sit back and enjoy life without the lousy missionaries telling them what they should believe. Although a lot of the atheists or non christians were relieved, there were some that were afraid and they regretted the decision of not believing there was a God that was higher and more worthy of praise than they were. There were some atheists that figured out that the reason that there were a lot of disappearances was because it was the end of the earth. The missionaries would constantly talk about the end times and they would constantly tell them to prepare their hearts, minds, and souls. After the christians began to disappear there were people who had to make a choice to either accept the Lord into their heart or they would end up in

Philosophy 224 Monday/Wednesday 10-11:15 WORD COUNT In a small village, deep in the South American jungle of Guyana, two men overlook a massacre of over 900 people. Of these 900 people, about 300 were children. The men stand in silence, but only for a moment, they are philosophers… HUME: “This is truly astonishing… There is no way that Jim Jones could have been a prophet…”

In the Western Hemisphere, no early civilization was more remarkable than the Maya. Absolutely nothing was left, as Albert Marrin wrote in his book, Years of Dust. This is especially emphasized on page 56, where he says: “All his hopes, all his hard work, had amounted to- nothing” (Marrin 56). The replanting of crops was easier said than done after acre after acre was eaten to the roots by seemingly harmless creatures.
Missionaries were sent to the newly discovered continents to convert the native population to Christianity. In a letter from Father Kino, a Catholic Priest, in 1687, it is described how he succeeded to convert the Indian tribes and started building “ a new church” on their lands (Doc 6). Another example of sending missionaries is the Society of Jesuits founded in 1540 by the Catholic Church to spread Catholicism on the continents different from Europe. In this way, the church finds people that are easy to be converted because they don’t have or have very basic religions. That is why “in the name of God” the conversion of the native people changed their behavior and attitude towards the Mother Church.
