Paper towns is a book written by John Michael Green. John was born August 24, 1977 in Indiana (John Green, 2012). His parents’ names are Mike and Sydney Green (John Green, 2012). He earned a double graduate degree in English and religious studies (John Green, 2012). After spending time with children that had terminal illnesses, he was inspired to become a writer (John Green, 2012). He has written four books so far which are in order of when they were published: Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, Paper Towns, and The Fault in Our Stars (John Green, 2012). Paper towns should not have been banned in certain age groups due to sexual references and mentions of masturbation for the reason that students should be trusted to make decisions for themselves about what to read and what not …show more content…

Quinton and Margo were best friends as kids partially as a result of the fact that they lived across the street from each other. They drifted apart over the years and Quentin grew close to his little group of friends, which were Radar and Ben. Margo was known to be adventurous. Towards the end of senior year, Margo showed up in Q’s window saying that she needed a ride for the night. They went many places getting revenge of former friends and classmates then went to SeaWorld. The next day Margo went missing, but left clues as to where she was. Quentin, Ben, and Radar figured out that she was in Agloe, New York, which was known as a “paper town”. Quentin, Ben, Radar, Lacey, and Angela skipped their graduation to find her. When they arrived in Agloe, Margo didn’t want to be found, she left her clues so that they would know she was all right. Her and Quentin ended up going their separate ways, Margo wanted to travel and find herself and Q wanted to go to college and basically live, what is thought to be a “normal life” (Green, 2008). The book was banned at Dr. John Long Middle School by cause of mentions of masturbation, graphic sexual references, slang terms
