On March 28, 1984, the history of Indianapolis changed forever, something many millennials will never come to know. At the crack of dawn, about a dozen Mayflower moving vans left the city of Baltimore. Having packed all night long in preparation to leave before the sun came up, the Baltimore Colts had made what seemed to be an abrupt decision to pack up their team and move to Indianapolis. This event in Colts’ history has had a lasting impact not only on the city of Indianapolis, but also on the city of Baltimore. In 1998, “Manning became the NFL number-one draft pick” and joined the Indianapolis Colts (Peyton Manning Biography). Over the years, Manning broke various records and was named “the NFL’s only five-time Most Valuable Player and a 14-time Pro Bowl selection” (Peyton Manning). His vast array of accomplishments deemed Manning a sought after player, attracting fans from Indianapolis and surrounding cities. From 1998-2010, Manning's years with the Colts, fans from all over wore Manning's jersey, showing their support of Manning as well as the Colts. Cheering in the stands, fans gathered at the Colts home games in the RCA Dome and Lucas Oil Stadium to cheer for their beloved player. The newest addition to Lucas Oil Stadium is a bronze statue of Manning. The statue is yet another symbol of loyal fans throughout Manning's career and showcases the city’s appreciation for what he has accomplished. Through Manning's greatly appreciated generosity, St. Vincent Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis was renamed Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent in 2007 which has helped children and their families gain the support they deserve (Peyton Manning). After a few hours he arrived there he went onto the field to practice with his teammates. He was practicing with Tom Brady. When he was done practicing he went into the locker room to change into his jersey.
He then went undrafted in 2010 until the New York Giants signed him. The very next season Cruz had a breakout year by leading the league in receiving yards. In that spectacular season Cruz then led the franchise to Super Bowl XLVI in 2011, where they won against the New England Patriots 21-17. While Cruz was growing up he was surrounded by gangs and drugs up and down the streets of Paterson, New Jersey. The chances of Cruz excelling and being a professional athlete was very few due to how he grew up.
Peyton Manning is the greatest quarterback of the 2000s. Though most people argue that Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback in NFL history, that is simply not true. Peyton Manning may not have equal playoff success to Tom Brady, however his regular season statistics are far superior. Peyton Manning was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts as the first overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft. Manning turned the Colts’ history upside down by taking league-worst 3 win, 13 loss team to an immediate powerhouse with a 13-3 season in 1999.

Whenever, the Broncos and Giants, or any other pair of teams the two are a part of, face off with Eli and Peyton playing then the match is called a Manning Bowl. The senseless chaos ceases as a loud roar erupts from the stands as the Green Bay Packers emerge from the tunnel. “With 13 super bowl rings and 53 postseason appearances it’s easy to say that Green Bay is one of the most dominant teams in the NFL” (Packers team Records). Indianapolis is located in central Indiana and is a primary commercial transportation center for the Midwest. The economic base of Indianapolis has been changing since the 1980's, and is located in a prime agriculture area with a very diversified economic base. Before the 1908's Indianapolis was known for its main industry of manufacturing. It now focuses on retail and services and strives to gain tourism through sports and other attractions. Indianapolis became this transformation in 1984 when the Baltimore Colts move to the central part of Indiana and became the Indianapolis Colts.
Discovery Famous football coach, Tony Dungy, is consistently a man of honor and strength throughout his book “Quiet Strength”. His book is a memoir of his life which captures his discovery of what it means to be a Godly leader and how to live it out both on and off the field. With his son 's tragic suicide, and media fiascos with players, Tony discovers that listening to God and who he has put in our lives will give him peace and wisdom. Tonys upbringing set him up for a lifetime of possibilities which allowed him to go farther than most. I connected most with how Tony handled his son’s suicide, he handled it in a manner I wish i could and would have.
The three types of irony are dramatic irony, verbal irony, and situational irony. Peyton is hanged from the bridge he is trying to burn, he dreams of glory of soldier life while deceived by a "humble" spy, and Farquar is amazed by his survival of the hanging, only to be revealed as dead. The situational irony of Peyton getting captured and hung from the bridge he 's trying to burn is a dark humor featured in many of Ambrose Bierce 's works, to keep readers interested. In this case, it is just that simple and holds not much depth beyond the surface irony.
Another impact from football are the teams. NFL football teams bring in millions of fans, who bring millions of dollars in revenue to the cities. The NFL teams alone can make the city’s economy flourish.
