Suicide Among Teenagers

Suicide is a dominant cause of death among teenagers and young adults. The rate of suicides and suicide attempts increases from time to time. For some, suicide is the permanent solution to a temporary problem and most pressing public health issues across the world. Suicides case is so often these days even becoming a trend and we are not even flinch anymore. The depression and substances abuse for teenagers currently become issues that lead to suicide cases among teenagers.

Teenage suicide, in other words, youth suicide has not been a new issue in modern life nowadays. This matter has become a tragedy over the world, a burden for both governments and families. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide is the third-leading cause of death for 15-24 years old, after accidents and homicide. The statistics of CDC estimates that at least 25 attempts are made for every completed teen suicide. From the number of deaths and the serious of consequences, not only authorities but also parents, siblings and friends take actions to prevent and help young people.

Suicide and Self-harm is one of the main leading causes in youth deaths in today 's society. The thought of ending his or her life is one of the thoughts developing in teenagers’ minds around the globe. There are many reasons to why a person will put their life at risk, such as stress, depression, loss of a loved one, or being bullied. Constant use of drugs or alcohol is also another leading cause to a person to have suicidal thoughts/actions. Suicide is not the way to go, there are plenty of other options to overcome suicidal thoughts or actions.

In recent years a great deal of attention has been centered on youth violence. Numerous studies have been conducted on children of all races who are subjected to gun violence. However, violent behaviors start from within the environment where children have been exposed to. Household, poor communities and school as well have put children at risk each day. There are many suicides each year from people who carry or know someone who does or has a family member who carries. The ironic thing is that if people didn’t have the right to carry concealed handguns, most crimes, deaths and injuries would not happen because it would just be harder to get ahold of guns. Concealed handguns can easily cause the risk of unnecessary shootings. Disagreements will happen and instead of a possible fist fight a person 's anger can escalate and a gun could be pulled out and that disagreement or fight turns into a deadly shooting accident. Our society today is so lazy that there may be many that would not go through the trouble just to get a gun.

The seeming epidemic that is teen suicide plagues the minds of teachers, students, friends, neighbors, and parents. Despite this wide range of victims, teenage suicide most directly affects the parents of these children, who commonly feel an overwhelming sense of guilt due to their inability to help their children. However, to many it appears obvious that there are not many things parents can do to prevent suicide, for many reasons. The increased access to guns that allowing them on campus would cause could lead to an increase in suicide on college campuses. Finally, the most important part of college is learning.
