I felt the joy and fulfilment as an artist through the realization that my work was able to touch the hearts of the audience, the people in the community because they could relate to it and it gave them the lift they have longed for--the boost of morale about their chosen walk of life. This has made me realize that an artist has a responsibility to his community and we just have different ways to fulfil it. A message from a friend has strengthened my will to walk the life of an artist in order to perform my responsibility. From Dann Marr: “I was so thrilled to see a very familiar name on the exhibit. It was really great like no joke. I was actually teary eyed when I sort of deciphered the meaning behind those works of art. Thanks for helping me realize taking the road less travelled is worth it. I'm actually in government service for the last 4 years and seeing those masterpieces made me feel everything that's bothering me lately is making sense already. You know, answering lifelong questions that seemed to be rhetoric.” When I was asked, “why did you choose the walk of life of an artist”, I was surprised and silenced for few seconds. I honestly did not walk the life of an artist for quite some time, I haven’t done any artwork for years and I am bad at sketching my thoughts on paper. I’ve had an exhibit of abstract relief back in 2012 …show more content…
The first time I was with their group, I was bewildered on how to respond to their needs or how to mingle with them especially seeing those who have multiple disabilities. As I continued to work with them in their many activities, I saw the beauty of their sector. There is so much love and respect for each other. They are amazing, intelligent, filled with positive outlook in life and actively participate in many useful activities that would benefit their fellow PWDs. They were one of the first sectors I had in
At the end of the course, my art teacher handed me a letter that congratulated me on being accepted into the National Art Honor Society. I felt like I have accomplished something big after reading
For many years now, I have been working with this organization named REM Hennepin. This organization predominantly serves individuals within Hennepin County who experience many forms of disability. However, people from other counties are also represented through host county concurrence agreements. Their mission statement is precise and it is about creating opportunity for people and to care for adults with disability.
I was adopted as a child so this organization and what they are about speaks very loudly to my soul and my life. I was lucky enough to not have to go through any sort of abuse or neglect from either of my families, but I do know that it is very prevalent in today 's society. I was adopted when I was
Lining the hallways were pictures and testimonies from survivors. They gave quotes of courage and hope. All of this happened before entering the actual exhibit. The visual aesthetic was beautiful and eerie, all at the same time. Everyone spoke in a concerning, yet welcoming tone, that led us into the first tolerance exhibit.
I volunteered at my local chapter for my senior year of high school. I got to work with the phenomenal staff at the chapter. I had the pleasure of meeting families who were very strong. This organization has a very favorable standing from my point of view. This is probably one of the best charities in the U.S. and around the world due to their timeless efforts to support families in need.
Kaysie Rich Mr. Dibattista ENGL A111 619 September 25,2016 Literacy is Not Just Reading and Writing Creating art is one of the many ways our brains can go on autopilot and deal with the stress everyday events may cause. It isn’t just drawing or painting; in fact, art can be defined as visual, auditory, or performing acts that convey unique and creative thoughts to be appreciated for their beauty by oneself or others. The artist’s thoughts become the art through their personal hardships, struggles, and overall awareness of oneself. In her essay The Sanctuary of School, Lynda Barry, an art major and successful artist, demonstrates her founding love and freedom through art provided by her teacher in her classroom as a young child.
The community and legacy of Baird Scholars is one that focuses on excelling and improving, not only oneself, but the entire community as a whole. Looking forwards, I feel I could greatly contribute to the Baird community. Throughout high school, I always took challenging or advanced classes in order to push myself, and to expand my knowledge. I also had many experiences both as a leader and a volunteer. My main experience in leadership was in the Tanque Verde Bible Club, a group started by a fellow student and carried on by a group of five leaders.
In addition, 96% of people surveyed said they would be willing to help people with disabilities stay active. If even half of those people would be willing to volunteer with an organization like South East Consortium, a huge difference would be made. Some people even said they have already

A person’s hobbies say a lot about them as an individual. It is a universal truth that the people you surround yourself with have a major impact in shaping who you are, and the people that coincide with your interests can either change your life for better or for worse. For the past six years of my life, I have been a part of the fine arts community through band. Being a part of the band program has shaped who I am today as a person in many ways. It is in all parts my identity, interest, and talent, and in three to four months out of the year, it is my life.

Descriptive Essay I have never thought that drawing would help me out in life until I tried it. The interest started when I was in second grade when I saw one of my best friends drawing. I am thankful for her, she is the one who taught me to be patient and practice makes perfect. It gets a little frustrating and overwhelming when your interest is there, but you are not good at it.
