Lack of adequate physical activity amongst youth, more specifically in school, threatens their health status in the current day and in the future. A child’s lifestyle, in regard to physical inactivity, is one of the root causes of health differences as determined by the disparities experienced in terms of health status from one individual to the next. Additionally, a poor choice of diet coupled with physical inactivity can potentially lead to the development of long-term chronic diseases such as stroke, diabetes, and heart diseases when the individual becomes an adult. Mission: Through learning, excellence, leadership, and devotion; our mission for the K-12 physical education is to introduce, educate, and prepare students to become devoted, innovative, and knowledgeable individuals who will successfully integrate physical education into their lives and subsequently improve their lives both on health and physical terms.
Event Learning Goals: With the goal of educating and introducing students to the importance of physical education, our main strategies will be:
• To substantially increase the frequency of the number of times students partake in physical activities for students within k-12 to achieve the recommended standards. The activities should be specifically tailored and targeted towards serving the student population efficiently and effectively.
• Each and every student partakes a minimum of thirty minutes once a week for seven weeks through which the event will be conducted.
• The trainers to assess the progression of each student both in knowledge and depth in which the physical activities are
