Evaluative Essay: The Walking Dead The Walking Dead is a television show based on the ongoing series of black and white comics written by Robert Kirkman. Sine the premiere in 2010, The Walking Dead has become a favorite for many, including myself. Although the show is great to many, some people may feel that a show set in a post-apocalyptic world filled with zombies could be boring. But the walking dead is a lot more enticing than most people may realize. The series is not what you would expect. There are many twists and turns. I think once you start watching from the beginning, you will soon be drawn in. For many people who have never watched it before, may judge it too harshly. Therefore, the character does not only fight for his or her own survival but also for children who cannot protect themselves. These can be young boys and girls or even infants. The burden of helpless children can make the caregivers more vulnerable because they can feel on overwhelming sense to put the child’s life before their own. One other aspect that troubles the survivors is the lack of modern healthcare. There may be a citizen trained in the field of medicine if you’re lucky, but even though there are not today’s luxuries such as anesthesia, or modern medical instruments. Sometimes very primitive methods may be used in order to save someone’s life. And, sometimes, lack of medical care can cause seemingly unnecessary deaths. It can be very realistic and sometimes disturbing to viewers. The Walking Dead is a clever drama series that is about so much more than zombies. Most of us don’t think about all the aspects of survival after a zombie apocalypse. There is so much more to it than fighting zombies. This series uncovers so many aspects of what survival would require of us, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.
