A mass body of people pointed out what they liked and disliked. Throughout history, one can clearly see change is made through citizen’s inputs that eventually makes an impact on the quality of life. During the Progressive Era, America was portrayed as the “best country” in the world. However, no one bothered to bring up the fact that one out of three people were starving to death or only six out of ten children were attending school due to financial instability in American households. The government was well aware of the poverty issues but they did not make an effort to help the people.
One law was the Interstate Commerce Act which helped to economically aid workers. This aided workers because railroads had to openly publish their rates, so their companies could not be charged more than they deserve to be charged. Prior to this law, railroads could charge large companies very little and small companies too much. Another way the industrial worker was affected by government actions was through the Chinese Exclusion Act, which affected the workers socially. This act outlawed all Chinese immigration to America for ten years, although it actually lasted until 1943.
Ship ‘um back For many years, the topic of illegal immigration has been a part of every presidential platform. The problem at hand is that illegal immigrants have an effect on our nation. The United States of America has many surnames, the land of the free, the home of the brave, and the melting pot, are only a few. When thinking of debates over immigration reform, one generally pictures two opposite sides of the political spectrum battling it out over what they think should happen. Everyone has a different idea on what to do about illegal immigration, and neither party is willing to compromise enough to form an effective plan of action.
Young transgender people in New York often end up sleeping on the streets or in subway cars. Roughly 15 percent of transgender Americans earn less than $10,000 a year. They are twice as likely to be unemployed as the general population. There have been Bills introduced in Congress, that protects lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers from discrimination, yet none have passed. This article was really eye a opener for me.
Opioids Today Undoubtedly, the addictive nature of opioids has generated immense controversy in both the medical community and population of the United States. During the last decade, the increase of people addicted to opioids has grown steadily, among them; you can find ordinary people but celebrities, athletes and soldiers thus charging many lives in their path. Despite this, it was not until after several months of political pressure that the current president of the United States, Donald Trump, declared in the middle of 2017 those opioids are responsible of a health crisis in America. The history of the nation shows that with the passage of time, similar crises have appeared that are now experienced, but that despite this, they have not
However, some people that come here come just to make their drug cartels economy good because they come here to sell they’re products. The “drug war” in northern Mexico is one gigantic bloodbath. The Mexican government says that as many as 28,000 people have been slaughtered by the drug cartels since 2007. A very significant percentage of those deaths have happened in areas right along the U.S. border. Why discriminate all of the Hispanics and just not give them opportunities every one should earn opportunities to show there
Currently America is failing to help new immigrants seeking legal citizenship gain it and is not upholding its part of the deal. Although gaining citizenship seems like a simple thing on paper, it is truly more difficult. America gains the majority of its illegal immigrants from Mexico, totaling just under half, which is currently 5.4 million people ("5 facts about illegal immigration in the U.S."). If there were more attainable methods of gaining citizenship, this would allow these people to become bigger contributors to society. Even though illegal immigrants only make up about three and a half percent of America’s population, they are slightly over five percent of the workforce (Billups).
It is impossible to know who is illegal by their looks. Daily, people are crossing into the United States illegally for reasons that are not known and can only be speculated. President Obama and his administration believe the United States should agree to take and naturalize all illegal aliens, however this paints a very bad picture of America. A lot of jobs are being taken by unauthorized aliens, some have been known introduce and traffic illicit drugs into the United States.
Arab people in particular that were coming into the USA would be excessively questioned and basically harassed about their visits. The border control officers were and still are very biased; they always have doubted and are in doubt of Arabs, which is completely unfair. It takes away one of a person’s basic human rights that they will be treated equally no matter what. However, immigration boomed in the 2000’s being the biggest number of immigrants in the US, a doubled number of 1990’s immigrants, making almost 40 million (Camarota, 2012). International Labor Day on May 2010 there were protests for immigration change in cities across the nation.
Especially in the U.S. where almost 15 percent of the population lives in poverty which is about 45 million Americans just in the U.S. (Gongloof). How does someone expect this group have a place in society but, doesn’t have the funds to go into the world and look for material things instead of taking care necessities such as bills, expenses, education and much more. The great things about pre-owned is not a “hand me downs”, most of the time a preowned item must go through to inspection and must be just as good as if the product would be new with probably some cosmetic starches and so forth (English). But, people such as me that go to college and are trying to obtain a higher education will most likely go trough the struggles of not having the newest thing but having a “Pre-owned” item and having the insurance and trust that it wont brake on you such as a preowned car, laptop, book, etc. Is something great and not having preowned items in this world it would lose a market for those people that need items that aren’t new but
Thus Jose only encouraged himself doing illegal activities such as making photocopied health cards, and we must stop our friends and families from doing this. According to the research, more than 1,300,000 immigrants live in America each year. Due to maximized population in America, if the immigration process was cut down strictly, some of the legal immigrants would not gain enough rights. The ones who do not treat illegal immigrants right, judges them “why can’t they just immigrate to other countries?” Many immigrants choose to immigrate to America because U.S. leads for better goals, and is better to live peacefully in the “American Dream” [Stephen Harper]. America is being affected the most with immigration issues.
The politician Donald Trump is gaining more popularity by arguing the journalists and the democrat politicians about releasing immigrants into the United States without a permit or a visa. He declares that the immigrants are the cause of bringing illegal drugs and gangsters to the U.S. It seems true that most of the immigrants cause more crime, but some like families needed a new life or a new future. In the article, Donald Trump answered Chuck Todd for deporting all families back to their country with no exceptions whatsoever.
The official poverty rate is 13.5 percent based on the U.S Census Bureau’s 2015 estimates, that same year an estimated 43.1 million Americans lived in poverty. (U.S Census Bureau) There are millions of Americans that go unnoticed to society and government due to their low financial stability and poor living situations. They constantly deal with low provisions, low employment, bad health, and high rates of poverty. Majority of this happens to the minorities in this country, and it dates back since the 1900’s. The minorities being the last to be concerned about, but since then low income communities have been generified, which has improved the living conditions bring in more people, jobs, and better housing, but it still takes years for the
