2.1 Investigate and report how the Church first became influenced by paganism. When Constantine was Emperor he made Christianity the only legal religion of the Roman Empire. He started to bestow favours on the Church members which encouraged pagans to join for party-political, military and public success. Pagans were now outlawed by Christians instead of as it was before, so pagan belief had to cloak itself with a Christian appearance to merge in, so they Christianized their gods, temples, feasts and idols which helped pagans escape attack. Many leaders welcomed it as a way to win pagans to Christianity. The Roman Church loved the growth in membership and subsequent prosperity as these pagans joined, resulting in a blend of truth …show more content…

To display one eye is like saying 'I too am a god'. An attempt to deify that which it is displayed on. Rays of the sun go back to pagan worship of the sun which honours the created (the sun) instead of the Creator. It worships the fleshly realm of biological life in place of Jesus Christ the true light of everlasting Life. The pyramid implies the number 3, or the union of two (1 male and 1 female) to produce three (manifestation) and is summoned to yield something, achieve an effect, or an aim.
