Victoria was an overall great child although we did experience some bumps in the road. Luckily I chose a great style of parenting in which Victoria and myself could grow and learn in a healthy and positive environment. Every moment is a memorable part of the journey of life. I have always appreciated the value of giving to others because I believe that just being able to lend a hand to others, no matter how trivial it may be, is what makes life worth living. However, my desire to help people started when I began working with children as a teacher’s assistant. It would instill in me a lesson that I would never forget. As my first step at trying something different, in the beginning I was tense, unsure of what to do.
It was pleasant to read that my work as a preschool teacher will actually make a difference my student’s lives in both social behavior and academic success. The Head Start REDI program is not just a place where kids get dropped off to play. In fact, they still get a lot of social-emotional benefits just by playing. It is a program where kids learn and shape themselves. I knew that preschool and Head Start REDI programs were beneficial for kids but, I never knew the extent of the benefits until after reading this study and the exact skills they learn in a preschool of Head Start REDI
I want to improve the CPS systems especially, because of work overload a lot of children are suffering. Eventually, I would like to open my own agency that will not only empower and/or encourage children to be there better self but will also secure them a future in life. An agency that is truly going to bring in positive and great results and would not consist of burnouts/work overload. “So many of my Young Life girls have asked me why I don’t have kids yet and I always laugh it off with the same answer: ‘Oh, I’m too busy doing stuff with y’all to be worrying about having kids.” Molly and Stan met in high school through a youth outreach ministry that both of them are still involved with. This program has several different branches, the main one dealing with high school aged kids. Doing that kind of work has only made them want kids more, but has also served as a positive distraction. While they are caring for, hanging out with, and mentoring these students, it is difficult to imagine also having to take care of an infant. “I feel like Stan is called to be a father, but I’m just not sure that I’m called to be a mother.” This is a thought that Molly L’Hoste has had racking around in her brain for many years.
It is difficult to teach a topic if students cannot it relate to their everyday lives. Students and teachers both need to be motivated so learning can be effective and worthwhile. Finding students strengths and weaknesses can help us as teachers find ways to use different learning approaches to help our students succeed. Overall, growing up literacy was very much imbedded into my everyday life with the help of my grandfather. Today I still do a lot of reading but not as much as before do to working and schoolwork load.
She has that story and motivation that empowers people to learning a new language. It’s a struggle to learn a language that you’re not familiar with, but with a lot of practice and support, we can easily keep it in our heads. I’m really glad that Lisa Kanae has helped her little brother out in those tough situations and I hope a lot of people will do the same as
As a student, while reading this article I found many of the concepts useful but especially familiar. Throughout my years of public education, the older I became, the more I was able to recognize certain techniques and strategies that teachers used. For example, the article mentions to compliment good choices within earshot of peers and parents, keeping it simple and authentic to boost their self-esteem and make them feel comfortable and safe. This is just one of the many suggestions in the article that reminded me of my childhood. Anytime a teacher gave me a compliment, it first made me feel good about myself and distracted me of any fears I may of had.
Interactions are one of the most important elements of early childcare and education. As a practitioner, I now understand the importance of quality interactions between practitioner and child, as they help build strong relationships especially when the activity is meaningful and enjoyable (DCCC, 2012). Interactions in Happy Days Playschool are warm, nurturing and respectful, but through the Aistear-Síolta (2015) self-evaluations, I discovered that at times my interactions were often superficial or directive, which was denying me the opportunity to fully tune into the child’s learning and to build secure relationships with the child. Síolta (2006) acknowledge that the role of the practitioner in terms of ensuring constructive interactions with children is demanding, but through reflective practice, I was able to ‘slow down’ my every day interactions, particularly the technique of scaffolding in order to enhance children’s learning outcomes. Vygotsky (1962) stated that we learn through our interactions and communications with others.
There are many different traits that people possess that make them individuals, for me, the most important or prominent trait would probably be my need to always have things planned out in advance and as well as possible. I gained this trait mainly through elementary school, I was very unorganized throughout most of it and even though I wanted to be getting good grades, I was always losing and forgetting about my homework. Over time I think I just started to sort of overcompensate by being much more organized that I need to be. While it can sometimes be hard to plan out everything as much as I would like, it has been very helpful for me in the past with school work and all of my jobs I’ve had for me to be pretty good at organization and time
I feel grateful for the guidance and friendship that my advisors at Park have given me. While there are many things I hope my next advisor learns about me, and there are two important things I would like my Dana Hall advisor to know about me.
