FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTS OF HUMAN INTERACTION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY
In order to have a better understanding of human behavior changes based on social situations. It is imperative for us to know what social psychology, human interaction and human behavior is and how these are interlinked?
1. SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY
According to Baron, Byrne & Suls (1989) we can define social psychology as, “the scientific field in which we study and understand the nature and causes of individual behavior in different social situations.”
The factors which affect our behavior when we are interacting with others are the main topic of study in Social Psychology. It enlightens us about the conditions effecting psychological factors that influence our

Martin’s personality consists of certain traits like self assurance and empathy. At the same time there is no single set of attributes or precursors so we can separate helpers from non-helpers. Situation play the predominant role in determining whether an individual intervenes or not. Due to a reward system which is triggered in the brain leading to continues positive vicious circle encouraging the individual to repeat the same act. This moral reasoning process advocate a precursor and as a result of an altruistic behavior. The mass rescues during the disaster of 9/11, which led to an issue of non-victims to help victims where we saw human cohesiveness formation due to a common cause to help. The act of altruism is a social facilitation by the means of gaining social prestige and emotional well being of an individual and is favored by the majority of humans. The necessity of altruistic behaviors is essential for the survival of groups and society to balance out …show more content…
Humans have a tendency to behave aggressively and that if aggression is released in socially desirable ways, it is discharged in some other form. Frustration can be a key factor leading to a readiness to be aggressive. Study proved frustrations always lead to aggression of some sort and vice versa. Therefore when a frustrated individual has access to weapons, he will behave more violently. Same goes for the people who watch violent movies tend to be more aggressive than the ones who take interest in love stories. The intensity of aggression increases due to the number of incidents involving aggression. Other factors may include weather or high density population, gender, age, and social status etc play a significant role in an increase in aggression rate in society. On a larger scale warfare is the worst example of aggression in modern times. This phenomenon of aggression exists and is part of human life for the only reason. This is due to the social and psychological indifference among people that creates altruism and aggression phenomenon which has its effects on human behavior. The aggression can be prevented with therapeutic intervention, which is not needed when it comes to
Adriana Umana Psych 356 13 December 2015 Final Exam Much of what we know about human behavior has been known thanks to many psychology theories. Some of these theories have been developed by very well known psychologists such as Carl Rogers, B.F Skinner, Bandura, and Raymond Cattell. Although, some theories have changed over time there are others we still apply today. Carl Rogers was a humanistic psychologist. He was non directed, client centered, and person centered.

“What is the psychology behind violence and aggression” from Virginia Commonwealth University by Brian McNeill has come up with a conclusion on why
“Theory underlying the weapons effect or similar kinds of phenomena would suggest that the more you fill the environment with stimuli that are associated with violence, the more likely violence is to occur,” explained University of Missouri social psychologist, Bruce Bartholow, who has studied the “weapons effect”. When
Using violence against violence will perpetuate even more violence. During domestic violence the children see the father beat up their mother, later on when they will grow up and do the same. The violence they see is causing them to believe it is alright to do it which perpetuates more violence one later in the
Throughout history man has displayed violence towards both the environment and other men- physically and emotionally. As a result of the need for land, rights, social change and power, man has felt the need to compete and prove their dominance to other races through violence. In many cases, those who initiated the violence felt they were superior to those they invaded because of the difference between their race, religion or way of living. There are many different contributing factors to the history of violence; many of which still exist today. Violence has been around since the Mayans, Incas and Aztecs.
Aggression is one of the most common behaviors in the children. It takes a longer amount of time for this emotion to fade away, because a majority of the time they feel they are not understood, and they see everyone as an
Nature have mostly genetic influence, and nurture have mostly environmental influence, such as our tendency to imitate through observation. Both have contrasting influence on us when we are forming our behavior. Sometimes our aggressive behaviors happen under certain type of circumstance due to personal experience or other factors. There are no evidence to prove which plays a bigger role, but both plays a important role in terms of forming behavior related to violence and aggressive. I believe that nature and nurture works collaboratively in terms of forming our aggressive
According to Maslow’s Theory of Human Motivation, the human’s actions are based upon a descending hierarchy of five tiers of needs; physiological needs, safety and security needs, love and belongingness needs, self-esteem needs and self-actualization needs respectively. We can notice a connection between the bystander’s action and the lack of fulfilment of their ‘safety and security needs’ according to the model by observing the bystander’s actions that consist of joining the observing crowd and giving their social responsibility to others due to their ‘diffusion of responsibility’ type of thinking; therefore, we are able to notice that the probability of help is related to the number of bystanders inversely according to Darley and Latane’s research. The solution that the research has found for the victim in an emergency would be to make a specific pressure-implying call to a certain bystander that would clear his diffusion. And as a result, more of the bystanders who are high on their safety and security level will
There is a study in which analyzes the behavior and communication of a person when they come into contact or are acknowledge about some other person or group of people. Hence, this study is known as social psychology. Many aspects fall into this topic and those aspects are presented in the film Crash. Crash a film released in 2004, depicts many aspects that fall into the social psychology realm.
The reasons people act violently is a broad topic of study. Although many psychologists and people in general continue to speculate about what those reasons may be. One of the main reasons people are thought to act in a violent manner is that it is a symptom of how that person uses violence as “a means of coping with life 's problems” (Seifert 1). Another reason that people use violence to express their feelings could be imitating what they see going on around them. Proving this point is this statistic that, “almost all of the bullies, 97 percent, said they were also victims of bullying”.
It is a state of nature that humans choose to fight and have the courage to kill those of the opposite opponents. There is always those who try to prohibit competiveness and discover more contemporary idea, with less socially harmful affects, to give those who are “biologically” aggressive an ability to express their nature of
Altruism theory can basically be defined as an act that an individual performs, in order to benefit someone else. Altruism can also be known as Ethical Altruism. Furthermore, this specific theory speaks about the good deeds that an individual would undertake to help and benefit someone else, even if it requires the sacrifice of self-interest. The action that the individual would tackle would consider being morally right if the result would benefit the recipient than the person actually conducting the action (Mastin, 2008) . Majority of the time these actions that are performed by individuals are not only about doing good for other personnel but also to protect these persons them from being harm or getting injured in a certain situation
In this experiment gender was looked at as factor that influenced aggression. Many people tend to see men as more aggressive than women. The findings of the research found that there is no difference in aggression between males and females. However it was found that men do use more direct aggression then women but between the two genders both use indirect aggression the same as one other. Social connections is another way to look and see what type of aggression is used in day to day life.
The topic of this assignment is to discuss and analyse what factors affect human behavior and in doing so how human behavior is shaped. But before discussing that, it is important to understand what human behavior is. To define it in a few sentences or words would not be sufficient as human behavior consists of many factors and therefore contributes majorly to who we are as a person. But to put it simply, it is defined as all actions and emotions that an individual portrays in response to the different kinds of stimuli they receive no matter whether these responses are conscious or subconscious and voluntary or involuntary (Merriam-webster.com, 2015).
