Introduction Afghanistan has faced many years of violence, lawlessness, chaos and suffering which characterizes today's transnational wars. Afghanistan had been ruled, in whole or in part, at times badly or at times atrociously, but it has not experienced peaceful governance yet. The crisis of human security in Afghanistan is due to the destruction of institutions of legitimate governance. There is a justified scepticism about the “peace process” aimed at accommodating Taliban in the Afghan power-structure. Any attempt to amend the Constitution to Taliban's liking in order to ensure their participation in the government under United State's initiative may prove to be the undoing of the experiment for 'New Afghanistan'. Thus, United Staes does have the acceptability to play a key role in Afghanistan in the next few years. It is a fact that the United States continues to play a bigger role in stabilising Afghanistan.The research study examines the human security questions and democratic governance challenges in the post -Taliban Afghanistan.
Objectives of the Study
To examine the post-Taliban human security situation and the role of United States in Afghanistan;
To study the roots of political instability and governance crisis in Afghanistan;
To analyse the impact of U.S intervention and the human security threats in Afghanistan;

State security as well as human security are essential elements of nation state building and democratic governance.
Peace and security cannot be imposed through external military intervention.
Religion and Military played a negative role in the maintenance of peace and democratic cosolidation in Afghanistan.
Political institutions that are supposed to support democratic governance failed to perform its functions in Afghanistan.
The United States play a significant role in the promotion of security building and democratic governance in the post-Taliban Afghanistan.
