Social workers promote clients ' socially responsible self-determination. Social workers seek to enhance clients ' capacity and opportunity to change and to address their own needs. Social workers are cognizant of their dual responsibility to clients and to the broader society. It is a perspective that agrees with the social work ethics and values, while assisting the worth of an individual. (National Association of Social Work [NASW], 2008, Preamble) Applying this perspective allows the client to become empowered and have input into their recovery. Empowering the client gives them the ability to uncover their potential and provide them with the tools they need to overcome every day struggles. (Guo, W., & Tsui, M., 2010, p. 235) Additionally, it acknowledges the client’s experiences and skill set into a form of therapy. The strength perspective is an approach that provides a bond between social worker and client that is built apron hope and possibility that is cultural sensitive.
Before I saw the elderly would not dare to approach them, talk alone with them. After long-term care services to learn, let me learn how to care for the elderly and in contact with them. I realized that each person is unique individual life, not because of a certain part of the disability and then despise them. We should be based on a sincere and caring heart to get along with them. However, before that we must first develop a respect for life.
While spending all of your time with your clients or going over paperwork for them it 's hard to spend time with your loved ones. Realtors attitude majorly affects how their clients or potential clients view them. Realtors always have to say everything is great because they want to appear successful and make their clients feel as if everything is under control, even when it’s not. Being able to make themselves available is a huge part of mentorship. The mentor needs to find times, days, and locations in which they are able to meet with the mentee. If they cannot be present for the mentee then there is no relationship being made and therefore no mentoring is taking place. Honesty is a huge factor when it comes to mentorship, hence why it is a responsibility of the mentor. Everyone has people they love and if they were controlled by those people there would be little to no free will in the world. I also think that it’s also the best argument because just because you love someone does not mean you have to please them every minute of every day, it’s okay for your partner to be unhappy with you
I believe very strongly in acting in a trustworthy manner at all times. I think that to not have integrity is very detrimental not just from a social work standpoint but to any aspect of someone 's life. However when it comes to social work it is essential. We are working with clients to change their lives and if they can’t trust us they will not get what they need out of the services and there is a high chance that they will discontinue services. I also believe that integrity does not just relate to our own personal integrity but the integrity of the agency.
Requests result in an outcome and we need to be clear in advance of whether we desire an outcome to our question and if so, which outcomes we want. Knowing that in advance will help me phrase the request in a positive way which should solicit a positive response. Both NVC and SCARF are great frameworks for leading and managing social interactions. Being aware of them will change how I interact with others, both peers and subordinates. I believe, they can help me “manage up” as well with people I report to.

Because of this, I did not care much for what they said or what they wanted ot eventheir ideas simply because I did not like them. I have since developed the ability to work with people that I do not care for personally. As leaders, we need to leave our emotions at the door so we can be non biased and make the right decisions for the business while maintaining impartially. Breaking down barriers is an invaluable skill that once learned, should be even shared with those around us. One should always make an effort to look at the other persons perspective and to ask questions until satisfied.
