The opponents of the legalization of prostitution claim that decriminalization of prostitution destroys the moral foundations of our society. The equalization of prostitution to the usual professions such as a teacher or a doctor brings up the notion of immorality and permissiveness in the growing generation. Also, children and adolescents do not correctly perceive the concept of sex and intimacy between a man and a woman. Sex is perceived as a business, and not as something spiritual between two loving people. Many young girls will think that there is nothing terrible in prostitution and this is allowed to
Some women may have been coerced or forced to become prostitutes by “pimps or human trafficking.” If the decision to become a prostitute was independent, it may be the result of “poverty or the lack of support, opportunity, or other underlying problems. Past trauma, drug addiction, sexual abuse such as molestation, and other unfortunate, immoral circumstances may contribute in the decision. Anti-prostitution feminists also argue that there are long term effects of prostitution. It can lead to serious, negative, and damaging long term effects on the individual. For example: trauma, stress, depression, anxiety, alcohol and drug abuse, self-harm, and suicide.
In terms of the negative stigma erotic dancing has on women, Barton starts us off with a question, “What kind of women dance naked for money?”. She goes on to explain that “Most people, informed only by cultural stereotypes, imagine much and know little about the lives of dancers…. Seductive and manipulative, she will steal your boyfriend or husband because she does not care about anyone but herself (Barton, 585). Ross also states that “Female burlesque, go-go, and striptease have been perceived by religious, civic, and moral reformers as commercialized sexual vice that inflames men’s passions...propel them to seek adulterous liaisons, abandon their families, and jeopardize their workplace productivity” (Ross, 150). I must say that I agree
People scold it as a kind of annoying action and think these women have terrible influence on the society. However when people spend much time condemning these women, I think it is more worthwhile now to consider why some women are willing to participate into sexual bribery even if in modern China. This report will analyze
Leaders such as Mrs. Bailey and J.T show how those in authorities misuse their position and promote drug abuse, sexual intrigue and violence. For instance, Mrs. Bailey could pay young men to have sex with her (Venkatesh, 2009. C- Note is used to as an example of how the hustlers struggle with life as he does different types of jobs so as to earn some dollars for life. The author also shows how the police department is corrupt and how they are violent themselves instead of helping fight violence. This means that there are no appropriate measures in place to curb drug trafficking, crime and violence.
In the previous paragraph, we understand that the psychological problems trafficking causes can be just as devastating as the physical problems. When people discuss human trafficking, they often are confused as to why the victim didn’t just leave or tell someone. It is an accepted notion that majority of sexually exploited women have a degree of freedom; they are allowed to walk about the streets, allowed to contact “John’s”, and communicate with other women in the same business. However, what people often lack to understand the serious psychological grip that many traffickers have on their victims. In Theresa’s case, she had legitimate reason to believe that her family’s well-being would be in jeopardy if she refused to work or left the Chaldeans.
Victims being forced into labor, being drug camels, and solicitation. Slavery has brought sadness to the world and yet aren’t realizing that the people being trafficked are becoming slaves. White slavery correlates to human trafficking, due to helping women and their rights. White slavery means “ the procurement – by use of force, deceit or drugs – of a white woman or a girl against her will for prostitution (“ A Short” p.1)”.Victims are often taken to warehouses that are abandoned, so they won’t get caught . Traffickers will usually take a victim across a border so, the policies jurisdictions don’t make connections.
May be because maybe the serial killer has some underline sexual issues and does not want to reveal it to the public so he decides to pick up a complete stranger and take his frustrations out on a prostitute. Another reason could be the person wanting to act out sexual fantasies that a normal woman would not want to condone to so they pay someone for it and fulfill their deranged fantasy, but the worse part is that they probably like it and just keep doing it over and over(Moses,2006). Seeing that serial killers do have repeat patterns. Most serial killers do see as everyone beneath them some of them have a narcissistic disorder so when one sees a prostitute the prostitute probably does not even register as a human in a serial killers
Some experts consider that in this case decriminalization is the best strategy, but it should be an advantage for women, who, no matter which way you look at it, are entitled to exploit their own bodies as they want. However, they also claim that pims, customers and other people involved must be punished, as only such kind of strategy can restrain the growth of demand and supply in sex industry. Another negative aspect of legalization of prostitution is that it can promote sex trafficking. The example of Netherlands show that 80% of women were trafficked from other countries, and most of them were from poor countries of Eastern Europe (Raymond, Janice G.). Moreover almost 80% of women involved in sex industry in Germany, the country, which legalized prostitution too, came from South America countries.
Imagine being trapped among countless people who don’t value your life but instead see you as an object for their own pleasure, people who proceed to throw you to whoever wants you next after they are finished and got what they wanted. Horrific events such as this are happening all around the world. Specifically, girls in Minnesota who are being sold as if they are commodities, and traded for unjust acts such as rape or other heinous acts the buyer desire. Many women who have been caught in the sex trafficking system have been charged for prostitution instead of helped and viewed as victims. Decriminalizing girls that have been forced into sex trafficking, and working to find those buying and selling girls of all ages will create a motive
Victims are often silenced and told that telling law enforcement will only create more of a problem for them because prostitution is against the law. In most cases, no one steps forward to get their traffickers in jail. The feeling most girls have is turning there pimp in, means turning themselves in. In other cases, many get attached to their pimp and develop dysfunctional relationships that make them scared to come out and tell law enforcement. “Traffickers also play into the narrative by telling victims, who are exploited for sex, theyĺl threaten to call the police and report them for prostitution if they push back” (Alvarez 2).
(Atwood 72). Our society today makes many women feel like they are at fault when sexually assaulted. Whether its intoxication, risqué attire or innocent flirting, women are always blamed for men’s inability to keep it in their pants- just as Janine is blamed for being gang-raped. Society has made women fear things they shouldn’t have to fear because of the expectation that men want to have sex. In a male-controlled society penetration becomes the norm.
