In the book “Hunger Games book 2:Catching fire”, after winning the 74th annual Hunger Games because after the rules of the games were changed so that there could only be one winner instead of two so her and Peeta decided to both eat poison berries so that their would be no winner. But at the last second it is announced that they both won. President Snow was not amused by this rebellious act so before Katniss and Peeta go on the victory tour, six months after the games, where they visit all 12 districts through Panem and give speeches to each districts people, president Snow speaks with just Katniss in private and threatens that if she doesn't convince him and the rest of Panem that her and Peeta are madly in love there would be dire consequences
Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark have a mutualism symbolic relationship during the Hunger Games. Their association was the key cause of both their survival in the Games. Katniss pretends that she is in love with Peeta in order to please the sponsors to get gifts for both of them. At the end, this relationship results in their victory of the Hunger Games. Their interaction increases their chances of survival because it causes viewers to sympathize them as they are perceived to be“star-crossed lovers from District Twelve” (Collins 135).
Now, you do not need me to tell you that all this is why Panem is a Dystopian Society. Another reason why though is how President Snow reacted to all of this. He was not very happy that katniss and peeta had found a way to outsmart the capitol and the gamemakers. So he set out to basically ruin Katniss’s life because she was trying to rebel. He didn’t like that his power was being taken away so he was going to try to get it back, But because he had to power of intimidation and could pretty much kill anyone and get away with it no one could do anything.
The Hunger Games: Chapter Notes Chapter One: It was the morning of the reaping, Katniss was reflecting on the events of her life. This introduces the characters main family, prim, and her mother. In order to clear her mind, Katniss went hunting in the woods near the edge of District 12. While there, Katniss 's friend Gale showed up to I an escape plan before the reaping can began. Katniss declines the offer and heads to the square for the reaping.
Suzanne Collins, the author of both The Hunger Games & Catching Fire. The main theme of both stories that stuck out the most is Rebellion. Why you ask? Well let me explain. Throughout both of the stories, the state of Panem has been under constant rebellion both with major & minor acts of defiance.
In the book, The Hunger Games, one of the main events is when Katniss volunteers for her sister, Prim, to participate in the annual Hunger Games. After reading this event, I was very surprised. I noticed that Katniss surprised herself by saying she would volunteer, but then quickly recovered once she remembered that the reaping would be shown on television. “…this is upsetting me and I don’t want to cry. When they televise the replay of the reapings tonight, everyone will make note of my tears, and I’ll be marked as an easy target.
The announcement said that there may be two winners of the Hunger Games if they are from the same district. This urged Katniss to find Peeta, as she's walking she sees a blood trail. As she follows the blood trail she hears a weak voice saying “Don’t step on me”. It was Peeta, Katniss nursed him back to health. She washed his wounds and wrapped his leg up.
There are several themes in the books The Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. Survival and rebellion are two of themes in the books and two mechanisms some people have to use in the world. In The Hunger Games part one an example of the themes survival and rebellion is when Katniss has to go beyond the gates of District 12 , where it is restricted, to go hunt animals help her family survive either by selling the meat or consuming it themselves. This shows that katniss will do anything to keep her family alive even if it could cost her her life by going against the law.
At this point in the story, they have finally reached the surreal moment of winning the Hunger Games. In chapter twenty, page three hundred and forty five, the text states," '... Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to present the victors of the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark!' I give you---the tributes of District 12!' " Katniss's perseverance has paid off.
Once Katniss and Peeta were brought into the hovercraft and were healed, the capitol would question them about what was going through their minds when they were about to kill themselves with poisonous berries. The capitol is not happy with them threatening to do this, and during the interview, the only excuse Katniss could use was her “love” for Peeta: “‘Your only defense can be you were so madly in love you weren’t responsible for your actions’” (Collins 845). This provides an explanation of what happened on Katniss’ journey back home, and the step she follows in act three. This is important because this wraps up the end of the hero journey, and Katniss’ journey.
Although their relationship starts out as a lie, their feelings turn real as they bond over their hatred of the situation they are in. " The Hunger Games introduces the reality that children are not only capable of facing violence but also might be called to do so in their live[s]"(Skinner 2). Both Katniss and Peeta have never killed a human being before so they are under a great deal of stress to try to keep their humanity intact. That sentiment alone is enough for the two to share a deep
Mythologist, college professor, and author Joseph Campbell came up with the idea of the Hero’s Journey, which had a big impact of literature, and still does today. The Hero’s Journey consists of four main parts, with more ideas under each part. These four parts are Departure, Testing, Fulfillment, and Return. Each part is a key aspect of the Hero’s Journey. In The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen goes through this journey.
This part of the story was a huge changing point because if they didn't threaten to eat the berries only one of them would have won so doing this scared the capitol because they wouldn't have a winner. This action allowed both Katniss and Peeta to
Mary, the paper is well organized and it does flow well from idea to idea. You did a wonderful job bringing in information from the texts to support your thoughts. I think a bit of work on that thesis is a key here. I love that you included physical and psychological deception as a significant idea, which makes the paper interesting and a joy to read since you have great sources and wonderful organization for them. Your sources seem well chosen and full of information related to The Hunger Game and Gone Girl.
In the game to the Hunger Games-74 they both managed to win the game with confuse Serena Crane. The success of Katniss making himself as the symbol of the revolution. President Snow does not want the onset of revolution. Then the President of Snow gives threat to Katniss by destroying the citizens as well as his family. Katniss not stay silent
Because I had recently viewed the Mockingjay part two of the Hunger Games series, I saw an immediate connection in this chapter. Hunger Games part 1 required two of the participants from each of the 12 districts to be part of the annual Hunger Games. Each participant was given time to practice and prepare for the event; however, only one participant was going to survive in the end. Although not as violent, the preparations in the land of Ghuroub is very comparable to the training in the Hunger Games. The difference is that the people are trained with singing, or by “extracting the powers hidden within themselves” (Mahfouz 56).
