Once Zaroff explains what will happen he insists, “‘tonight, we will hunt, you and I’” (10). Zaroff enjoys hunting Rainsford so much that Rainsford speculates that “the General was [just] playing with him” (12)! The reader grows in anxiety as Rainsford unwillingly takes up the offer to hunt; or to be hunted. At this point, the story makes the reader feel unpleasant about what Rainsford is going up against. After all, Zaroff is experienced in hunting humans.
Have you ever wanted to do something else outdoors to obtain animals for meat and/hide besides hunting? Trapping is an enjoyable sport that offers many benefits. Not only is there a variety of traps that can be used, there are plenty of animal possibilities to catch, and many things that could be done with succesfully captured animals. To learn how to trap is easy. People should already be aware of animals habitats and adaptations in the woods if they have been hunting for a while, but it is okay if they do not.
I have been hunted by people while playing games I have also been hunted by animals while I was hunting. While hunting can seem like a one sided sport for the huntees it can very well be a two sided sport. The hunted can turn into the hunter in the blink of an eye. If the hunter makes a mistake then it could cause them to be the hunted. Just like in the story Rainsford becomes the hunter in an instant right when he appears in General Zaroff’s
These two extreme hunters take on the biggest challenge of all, which is being a hunter or the huntee. As this story builds, these two men start to grow to a hatred of each other. They end up playing a game, where Zaroff hunts the most dangerous game, Rainsford. If Zaroff kills or gets Rainsford within a certain amount of time then he, Rainsford, loses and dies in the process. However, if that doesn't happen and Rainsford stays alive and out of his way, then Rainsford wins and keep his life.
and has a foul smell to go along with him. Sometimes he travels in packs that are considered family members, but in most cases you will only see one. Native American Tribes describe the “creature to be pure evil and is considered a bad omen.” It is said if this creature is ever confronted he will sometimes kidnap or attack humans and in some extreme cases eat them. The origin of Big Foot cannot be precisely procured due to the fact this creature is
The majority of the amount of animals that are killed in the wild are because of hunters. Humans usually kill these animals for accessories such as fur, meat, and other body parts. Creatures in the wild are almost always being hunted, whether it’s by a predator or a hunter. Law enforcers have tried to eliminate the amount of hunters by not allowing road building or hunting in certain areas. This definitely helped a lot, but still doesn’t fix the problem with predators.
This shows how wild pets are dangerous and can attack you at any moment. Even though they are raised to like humans or by humans they are still wild animals and have the instinct and smell for blood no matter what you do to them ( Rainsford pg.18). Also according to Killer Pets by Blair Rainsford, “ They can make you sick, too. They can give humans many diseases, from measles to monkeypox.” ( Rainsford pg.18). The phrase above shows how much having a wild pet can hurt your health and how much of
Fear is an instinctive emotion of all animals, yet it differs in its appearance and consequences in animals and humans (Overstreet, 16). Most animals only sense fear when in real danger and mostly react with the appropriate instinct of fight and flight. To see that one can simply look at a deer. The moment it senses something dangerous, something out of the ordinary, it flees to a safer place without giving it a second thought. In animals, fear is just a tool of survival (Overstreet, 17).
Also, General Zaroff is an extreme hunter and doesn’t find pleasure in hunting regular animals. Zaroff says the most dangerous game is humans because they have the ability to reason. Rainsford is going to be hunted and is given a certain amount of time to survive. Moreover, while Rainsford is being hunted Zaroff
When a person is hunting they usually are the hunter instead of the hunted. While hunting, a person usually is stalking the animal until they get the animal where he or she wants it. The animal is probably going to run away and hide if the hunter makes noise. In Richard Connel's short story "The Most Dangerous Game," big game hunter Sanger Rainsford is tested in the following ways: strong versus weak, the value of life, and becoming what he fears. First, Rainsford will discover his strengths and weaknesses.
Them both, the hunters and huntees are both very smart. During the game they both have intelligent minds on how to pursue their goal. The hunters goal is to catch, and or kill the huntee. The goal of the huntee is to get away from the hunter. They both need to focus on different things.
In the two short stories, The Most Dangerous Game and The Cask of Amontillado, Zaroff is more evil than Montresor. General Zaroff is a hunter that can kill any animal. He is so good, that he doesn 't enjoy hunting. In order to be entertained, he starts to hunt a different animal, humans. He hunts humans because he wants to be challenged.
The killing brings joy to him. " a lurking humor ran through his deeds" Killing things just to do it for fun is not good it is pure evil. Like when buck kills Spitz. He kills him to show dominance not for food. If you kill animals for food that is different, that is how you survive in the wild.
