American History: Our Hope for the Future Hope comes from all of the bad things that have happened. In this essay I will be telling you why Hurricane Harvey, 9/11 and The Holocaust gave me hope for the furtue. Humans have shown that by working together they can overcome many situations by counting on one another and not be selfish if one is in need.
For one example, Hurricane Harvey. People from all over the world were able to help the citizens that got hit by hurricane Harvey. Through all of the fundraising, thirty-seven million dollars was raised for the victims of the hurricane, which shows that many people are not selfish. And last but not least, people of northern Texas were able to help and show that they are not selfish by taking in whole families during the recovery of Hurricane Harvey.

People showed how well they can work in bad times by helping clean up the disaster of the twin towers. They showed how they can count on one another by setting up camps for the injured and counting on other states around us. They also show how not to be selfish by risking their lives trying to save people stuck in the rubble of the twin towers. My third example is the Holocaust. During the Holocaust people worked to gather to smuggle children out of concentration camps. They counted on one another by relying on all non-Jews to find refuge as well as food and falsified documents to get away from the Nazis. They were able to show that they were not selfish is by sharing everything they had, weather it was food or just some
They had their own police force and resources. But they knew thing was going to happen. They heard false news that the red army is advancing with great strides and that Hitler would not be able to harm them. No one could believe that Hitler would be able to exterminate an entire race. The Jews was use to the Germans coming and hoping for volunteers to come and work in the coal mines.
The Nazi party confined and separated Jews from society, only providing the necessary rations. The Jewish were eventually forced to adapt to this new lifestyle and appoint their own small society within their community, electing small leaders and even law enforcement. “. We even thought ourselves rather well of; we were entirely self-contained. A little Jewish republic....
Food, water, and shelter are often the bare necessities to survive, but there is another factor often overlooked: hope. In the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel, he details the atrocities he faced while living inside the Auschwitz concentration camp accompanied by his father, and how he survived with the concept of hope. The same principle is in the article “Hope: A Paradox” by Robert Kishaba, who explains how faith in one’s life can help or desert a person. The work “A Legacy of Hope from a Family of Holocaust Survivors” by Idit Klein has the same ideology but focuses on how family allows for happiness. These works conclude that without hope, whether through family or if it is a fallacy, the chances of survival would be close to none without it,
Their success in doing so began in these ghettos. As stated by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, “Food allotments rationed to the ghetto by the German civilian authorities were not sufficient to sustain life.” Tens of thousands of Jews died from this reason alone. This truly portrays the absolute magnitude at which the Jews were being mistreated. Already, this lack of food and decent resources was a kind of warning as to how they would be taken to
The Holocaust is the most significant historical event that I have studied so far. This tragic event took place during World War II and only very few survivors lived to share their shocking experiences. I have read a few of these survivor’s stories, such as Night, by Elie Wiesel and it has personally impacted me and influenced my thinking in various ways. The Holocaust was the greatest act of hate, violence, and anti-semitism.
After the Holocaust (1930-1940’s), America underwent a drastic cultural and social change. The Holocaust, although occurred overseas sent shock waves through American culture, changing the way we lead our daily lives. America was drastically changed in the wake of the tragic events that transpired in Germany. The Holocaust, although being an international event, had a profound impact on American Culture, affecting its stance of interventionism, and our willingness to bring certain immigrants to our country. The widespread immigration to America that followed the Holocaust also provided a jolt to our culture, as the immigrants provided new facets of our society.
These people and organizations helped save many lives and helped to give the Jews their life back. Without the help of the Righteous Among the Nations, the Jews who survived might have not. The people impacted the Holocaust, because they prevented the Nazi Regime, from exterminating Jewish women, children, and men. These people like Irena Sendler and Yvonne Nevejean put their lives on the line to save the children of the Jews, from perishing. They also gave them hope and a well lived life.
INTRODUCTION Catastrophes affect humanity all the time but two of the most memorable in history are Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Harvey. Hurricanes are first seen from the satellite. This means that the hurricanes are spotted right away, it gets predicted where its going to impact first and how strong it can be when it hits the ground. These hurricanes are extremely dangerous because of its high-speed winds it comes with and the amount of rain produced by them, this makes it worst because they can last for days.
Some Germans helped Jewish people survive due to people getting killed or taken to work at
The Nazis blamed the Jews for all the hardships of the German population, which rallied everyone behind the Nazis because they needed to blame someone for their troubles. The Nazis started with propaganda destroying all opposing parties and voices, “Inasmuch as the first task of the National Socialists was to destroy simultaneously all trade unions as well as all liberal democratic institutions, it was necessary to make the people believe that these were devilish inventions, cleverly designed by malicious persons to ruin the German people” (Yorman 149). The Nazis needed to instill fear into the people without the people knowing they were afraid. The Nazis made the people afraid of all other parties and voices to the point they destroyed them. Yorman stated, “With people convinced that communism had been forced on them by a ‘degenerate’ and ‘malicious’ cabal of ‘alien enemies’ to create their misery, they could then rally all good Germans around the Fuehrer, who promised to protect his people by waging relentless war on these ‘enemies of Germany’”
For example, when Otto Frank, Anne’s father, returns from Amsterdam to see Miep Gies, he reads about how Anne, despite having a tough life believes people can be good deep down; “In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart” (Frank 352). In this quotation Otto see’s that being able to keep hope in such a tragedy, is a form of resistance itself. Anne knew that the Nazi’s were trying to rob them of all hope, but Anne stood faithful in such an atrocity. This hope is what got her through being a victim of one of the most infamous events to ever occur in human history. However, some may argue that hope will not stop the Nazi regime and they will continue with their genocide of all Jews until countered by force.

Nazis utilized anti-Semitism to cast Jews in a harmful light that uplifted the National Socialist party’s image and gave them a heroic appearance. By fueling a convincing campaign against the Jews and winning over public opinion, Nazis made the general German population more susceptible to supporting their
Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, some people who had lived felt the need to help in any way they could. Researchers figured people help those they know personally. People also will help if they feel like they can or the situation needs help. Researchers have also found that being confident can also contribute to prosocial behaviors. People who feel happy or successful are more likely to lend assistance, even in small things and situations.
All over the world there are people who suffer from lack of food, water, or housing. While this is a sad situation, beauty has arose from it. People go out of their way or even dedicate their life to serve others. Though this can be referred to as an act of kindness, I find it beautiful. Celebrities and other wealthy people are constantly found donating money to charities, supporting third world countries when they could be spending their hard earned money on themselves.
