Recently, one of the world’s biggest hurricanes ever recorded in history, named Patricia, has now reach Mexico. Hurricane Patricia had wind speeds up to about 200 mph, also known as category 5, but dropped over time. Heavy rain then followed creating mudslides and flooding. However, it was then recorded that the hurricane moved direction into more mountainous areas, avoiding major damage to Mexico and missed most of the resort city of Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo. In addition, prevention was taken early by evacuating more than 10,000 people out of the affected area. By Friday, residents and tourists returned, but patrols agreed to not let their guard down. Many people worried for others that lived in poverty. Since, their shelters are made of flimsy material; it would be easy for the hurricane to destroy it. To aid the citizens of Mexico, more than 1,780 shelters were made, 50,000-strong force had been mobilized in Jalisco, Colima and Nayarit, and about 4,000 Mexican navy officers were dispatched to areas at risk. However, most of the lives were saved thanks to President Enrique Peña Nieto and other officials who ordered everyone living in the affected areas to evacuate. More than 10,000 lives were saved. Also, citizens can start preparing when the hurricane comes. In addition, aid will also need to be delivered because of the injuries that may happen, like the Red Cross Company. Over the years, they have been providing medical attention and supplies to those in need, which is crucial after natural disasters. In the end, no matter how much damage is done to the people, they will always stand up and

In its initial years, FEMA's emphasis was on the national security worry with readiness for atomic war. As Kapucu and Ozerdem (2013) emphasized, since 1989, on the other hand, tranquil relations with the previous Soviet Union, combined with late common catastrophes (the Loma Prieta seismic tremor and Hurricanes Hugo, Andrew, and Iniki), have provoked a reconsideration of the national government's part in crisis administration. ("About the Agency” FEMA 2012), In the wake of a fiasco, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assumes a basic part in addressing the needs of influenced populaces in the United States. The hurricane eventually reached the strength of a category four hurricane with wind speeds up to a 155 mph, only two mph shy from becoming a category five hurricane (Hurricane Joaquin Recap, 2015). Though many meteorologists suspected that the hurricane would make landfall in the mainland United States, it made a drastic turn to Bermuda, but, in turn, sent a low pressure system through all of South Carolina sending down torrential rainfall starting on October 1, 2015 (Hurricane Joaquin Recap, 2015). The rain continued through October 6, 2015, breaking precipitation records throughout South Carolina causing massive flooding in Charleston, Columbia, Myrtle Beach, and other surrounding cities. Over 20 million individuals merely making it to the next morning on just $2.00 a day, malnourished, in poor living conditions, and uneducated. Children running around unclothed, many sick and left on the streets without parents. Disasters are constantly affecting the area by tropical storms developing in to hurricanes or even the wide spread of deadly diseases. The city is still paralyzed, peoples life have changed completely. It's traumatizing, people's life have changed not only in life situation like economic status but also in health and appearances. However, practical application and implementation of this concept has its challenges. Uscher-Pines, Chandra and Acosta authored Commentary - The Promise and Pitfalls of Resilience that reiterates the common theme that resilience has the power to dramatically change disaster management in positive ways, but challenges of community engagement, transitioning thoughts of personal preparedness to community resilience, and widespread implementation exist (Uscher-Pines, Cahandra, & Acosta, 2013). Resilience is found to promote action through everyday use and invokes less stress than preparedness. As Uscher-Pines, Chandra, and Acosta identified “…resilience strategies focus less on acquiring supplies than leveraging existing assets such as the vast social networks of minority communities (Uscher-Pines, Cahandra, & Acosta, 2013).” This serves to take the focus away from traditional preparedness goals of stockpiling supplies including food, water and medication, which may not be an option for many, and shifts the focus to building stronger social and community networks.
