For many, family is not only a blessing, but our greatest accomplishment. We are proud of the love we give and receive, for our children and the habits, emotional responses, obligations and values that we teach them. In The Odyssey, Odysseus is no different and the importance of his family is demonstrated as he weeps tears of sadness in their absence and rejects Calypso’s offer of immortality in exchange for his companionship. “‘My lady goddess, here is no cause for anger. My quiet Penelope—how well I know—would seem a shade before your majesty, death
1. After viewing the documentary and listening to each song by Rodgers and Hammerstein the song that made the most impact on me was the song “Some Enchanted Evening.” The song consists of very smooth and romantic melodies. Due to that I am a hopeless romantic I really enjoy the song lyrics and melody. The song was very catchy that I ended up singing the song for the rest of my day. One of my favorite lyrics of the song was.
From not even knowing who he was to being introduced and engrossed in a whole new world which was only known to him and his love, which he now shared with all his readers. The ending of this poem- from my point of view- was tragic yet strangely engaging for the audience. I can only simply accept that their love was not one to be long-lived , as it was forbidden. Although Annabel died in the end I cannot fault the poet, because even though she didn’t live a long life in which I pictured her growing old with Poe, I came to realise it didn’t matter. Poe would still continue to love her as he did before and to me, that was the beauty of it all, that he was able to love her regardless of her death.
(273) Saying that, she loved the people that she was with and gave all of her heart for each of them in a very poetic way. She claimed that Nector Kashpaw was her “first love” and the one she would always remember (273). The guys that came after him were all married out of “fondness” which she enjoyed every minute of, but they just didn’t compare to Nector (273). Clearly after saying that, Lulu wanted to be loved back and she wanted so much more than just a marriage; she wanted a deep, true love- one that compared to Nector
The Odyssey is definitely full of adventure, family values, and love and of course there is a mix of tragedy. The myth is about Odysseus. He was married and had a deep love for Penelope. They went through many lessons and kept each other close at heart even when Odysseus was away. Odysseus had wanted to come home to his love and family and the Greek people.
This is all from “Growing Up” written by Gary Soto. The overall idea is love, the opinion that one may have is that one should always have love for someone to be happy and the 3 literary elements that may support one’s topic and opinion is symbols, setting, and characterization. First, symbols in “Growing Up” written by Gary Soto supports the theme that one shouldn’t take anger out on the people they love because something could happen at any time and they will regret what they said. The symbol “garden hose” shows that Maria is upset with her father for not wanting her to stay home. She takes anger out on her father, but she realizes after they leave there has been a horrible accident and so she starts to regret not saying goodbye to her father.
The memory of love in someone 's mind has always been found in someone 's poetry. It is hard to deny that poetry is one of the most fascinating writing and creative arts. There are so many poets in the history that get perceived as an admirable poet. It is not surprising that Ezra Pound is one of them because he had written the most beautiful poetry which is called The River-Merchant 's Wife: A Letter. This poetry is the glorious one that expresses the unspoken feelings of someone who have to separate from the lover into a love letter.
The speaker mentions becoming selfless due to love and how love can endure through complications. Comparatively, the song and the poem Trials, by Frank Mandarano are similar due to both texts revealing how love endures hardships. Trails details love overcoming all obstacles, announcing, “inside we get though because of something special we share.” The speaker in I Will Always Love You divulges how even through impediments a couples love will endure, stating, “I’ll think of you every step of the way.” In the song, the speaker expresses the sacrifices they withstand for the person they love, declaring, “if I should stay I would only be in your way.” However, they possess no animosity and desire the best for the other person, stating, “I wish to you joy.” Through those two quotes, Whitney Houston shows us that if a person puts themself second when they love an individual and the focus is not on them, hardships become
She asks “Will we ever live so intensely again?” Boland wonders in this poem will her and her husband’s love will ever be as passionate as it once was. Will it ever be as strong where she’s able to personify their strong love where it’s like a physical presence in their home, “love…had come to live with us”. She captures the excitement and passion of the early stages of their relationship. Their lives may be more “day-to-day” and “ordinary” but they “love each other still” and they communicate well, “We speak plainly with each other clearly”. However, Boland recognises that in her experiences, even the most intense emotions fade over time and her effective language features portray this.
