“To be or not to be, that is the question, right?” In the play I Hate Hamlet put on by Art Center Theater in Plano, Texas. Although the play itself seemed interesting and well written, many errors with the acting, set, and crew distracted the viewers from enjoying the play to its full capacity. The storyline in I Hate Hamlet was interesting and took multiple unexpected turns throughout the entirety of the show. All of the actors showed a lot of emotion when communicating with each other, especially Alex Eakin, acting as Andrew Rally, causing the audience to grasp what a scene was trying to get across. Sydney Pardee, who acted as Alex’s girlfriend, Deirdre, put lots of emphasis on her emotions when she spoke and moved, so along with Alex’s accentuated emotion, the two made an extremely believable couple. Before intermission, the set was only slightly distracting, with the basic clutter from Andrew moving being labeled with bright tags that drew attention away from the actors. Champagne was used in a fight before intermission, but was not cleaned up, causing every step after to be followed by a loud sticking sound that diminished the effect of emotional acting. Confusingly enough, Gary, who was supposed to be a male , was acted by a woman, and Lillian, who was supposed to be a female , was acted by a man. Grant Hollowell, who acted as Lillian, made a strong effort to act as a female. While trying to fit into the character, he over accentuated the feminine voice making it hard to understand what was being said at times when what Lillian was saying would've been essential to the plot. Although Grant did a passable job of being Lillian, Siobhan O’Sullivan, acting as Gary, did not. Siobhan wore feminine clothes, jewelry, and still behaved as if she was a woman. At one point, Taylor D. Coffin, who acted as John Barrymore, even called Gary a

The woman speak about his problems with alcohol and how it has gotten worse. Act 2 actually starts and it is now years later when Emily and George have planned on getting married and he is on his way to see his finance on wedding day morning. Mrs. Webb believes it is bad luck for him to see his bride to be on that day so she insist him to stay with Mr. Webb downstairs. At that time Mr. Webb is sipping coffee out of his imaginary cup and speaking about his marriage experience and how to be a good husband. Later that day at the wedding both George and Emily have regrets and feel so anxious and want to cancel the wedding but their parents both talk to them and remind them of the love and affection they have for each other.
Shakespeare uses metaphor to emphasize how King Claudius’ action is characterizing him as a malignant person. When Hamlet was alone at night, the ghost of King Hamlet approaches to converse with him and tells Hamlet that King Claudius killed him. The ghost says “a serpent has stung me”. The word ‘serpent’ resembles to King Claudius. The fact that Shakespeare uses the word ‘serpent’ to identify King Claudius, give him a negative connotation.
Hamlet and many of our short stories all followed the theme of volatile. Volatile is, liable to change rapidly and unpredictably, especially for the worse. All of these stories share this mood and tone throughout the story. They all have rapid changes, due to an abundance of emotions overwhelming thoughts of something that they don’t even know is happening, or going on in there life. Hamlet is a very volatile story, meaning hamlet changes a lot throughout the story.
“The dead cannot cry out for justice. It is a duty of the living to do so for them.” is a quote said by Lois McMaster Bujold. When someone loses their life, they no longer get the opportunity to get revenge. It is up to the living to get the revenge or justice that they feel is fair.
“Rage bubbled through my veins and swept into my brain. ‘You try to kill a man in my hospital, then you threaten to kill me. I come here for answers, and she tries to kill me , too?’” (Susan Vaught. Insanity).

Hamlet, written by famous playwright and poet, William Shakespeare, is frequently referred to as the “Mona Lisa” of literature. The true purpose and complete understanding of the play is, up to this day, not remotely knowledgeable by scholars and the audience alike. The play has led to much conversation about what Shakespeare was ultimately trying to accomplish with it. One vexed and widely referred critique was that made by T.S. Eliot, in which he described, “The ‘madness’ of Hamlet lay to Shakespeare’s hand…a deliberate dissimulation, but a form of emotional relief” (Eliot 93). In creating Hamlet, Shakespeare achieved perplexity in the scheme that created for misinterpretation of an unexplained Hamlet.
Hamlet: The Use of Metaphors, Tone, and Verbal Irony to Convey the Character Trait of Cowardly Inactiveness In Act 2 Scene 2 of Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Hamlet witnesses the account of an ancient Greek myth demonstrated by a travelling actor. After witnessing the First Player’s emotional rendition, Hamlet realizes that he has covered little ground in his pursuit of revenge for his father’s death. The dramatic significance of this soliloquy is this: in regards to character, Shakespeare uses metaphors, tone, and sarcasm to illustrate Hamlet’s characteristic of cowardly inactiveness. During Hamlet’s second soliloquy he sets himself up on multiple occasions as being coward.
Act 1 starts with a scene outside of the castle walls during midnight where two soldiers, Marcellus and Bernardo, explaining to their friend Horatio, how they saw King Hamlet’s ghost silently wandering at midnight. After the ghost again appears, Horatio discusses how Fortinbras, the prince of Norway, is rumored to plan to invade Denmark to try to reclaim the land his father lost in a duel. The guards then decide to warn Hamlet, the princce of Denmark, about the apparition. In the next scene, Claudius, the new King and the brother of the late King Hamlet, addresses his court, with Hamlet and Gertrude, Claudius’ new wife and the late kings ex-wife, at his side. He addresses his new marriage to Gertrude, glazing over the late King Hamlet’s death,
Hamlet is a story about deaths, affairs, revenge, and fake love. Throughout the story, characters are introduced that either help Hamlet or make things worse for him. This story develops overtime and you understand the character's individual goals as the story goes on. People change in this story and others stay loyal to one another. For example, someone like Horatio stayed loyal to Hamlet through the whole story while Rosencrantz and Guildenstern tried to kill Hamlet even though they were his childhood friends.
Act 3 opens with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern reporting to Claudius about how they have not yet been able to find the root of Hamlet’s madness but that Hamlet requested Claudius attend the actor’s play. Polonius and Claudius then execute their plan to use Ophelia to understand Hamlet’s behavior. As they watch behind cover, Hamlet bumps into Ophelia right after delivering his famous “to be or not to be” speech where he contemplates suicide. In his conversation with Ophelia, rather than being kind, he berates her and tells her to go to a nunnery.
Hamlet is an extraodrnany play written by the notorious poet and author William Shakespeare. Hamlet happens to be one of the most popular works of Shakespeare’s and has continued to be preformed in current theatre works. Act one of the play Hamlet consists of 5 Scenes that quickly introduce issues that will be encountered during this poem. Although this is my first time reading Hamlet, it seems very familiar to other works of William Shakespeare. There are many characters, ideas, and quotations introduced during this play that have become part of the cultural and literal vocabulary of the western world and the whole world.
William Shakespeare wrote many stories and novels about love, tragedies, and mystery. The story that I will be focusing on is "The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark. Also known as Hamlet, this is a story written by William Shakespeare somewhere between 1599 and 1602(the exact date is unknown). The play enacts the revenge taken by Prince Hamlet of his deceased father by killing his Uncle Claudius. Claudius murdered his brother in envy and desired to gain power to the throne while marrying his brother's widow, Gertrude, who is also Hamlet’s mother. Hamlet, being Shakespeare's longest play, was also his most powerful and influential story during his lifetime and long after in English literature.
Through the entirety of the play “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare, the characters were overcome with the need for revenge as the outcome of many deaths. Therefore, no one was happy through “Hamlet” and it resulted in a tragedy. The character Hamlet played a big role in turning towards revenge and never would classify himself as being happy. Hamlet displays positive and negative behavior throughout the play. Hamlet exhibits strengths and weaknesses as well, although his weaknesses of over-thinking, bitterness, and his inability to accept the death of his father overshadow his strengths.
