I’ve been asked what it means to be an Eagle scout, but I can’t properly tell you what an Eagle scout is without explaining how it feels, and how to get there. When you earn your Eagle, you get a feeling of accomplishment, and that you have finally met that goal. But there’s more to it than that. You look back on your Eagle project, your scouting experience, all of your schooling, your home life, church events, and you realize that it isn’t something you’ve done on your own. You realize that every scout master, every senior patrol leader, every teacher, every pastor, and especially your parents, have influenced you to become an Eagle.
It was always the little things that made Mickey stand out. He might not have become rich or famous throughout his lifetime, but he was always making people smile everywhere he went. When building our new gym at Bogue Chitto the school board requested to name it in honor of Mickey, however; being the humble person that he is he declined. Coach Myers was just recently elected as the superintendent for Lincoln County. He received about fifty three percent of the votes, beating West Lincolns Principle Jason Case.
We can clearly see this when Lenina is talking about the prodigy Bernard and says; “As an Alpha-Plus psychologist, Bernard was one of the few men she knew entitled to a permit”(59). In this quote the author is showing that the permit to go to the reservation was authorized only to alpha plus members. To have that type of permit you would need to have influences over other people, and only alpha plus that are all men, have this power. The author also show that men have the capability to authorize people to come into the Brave New World. We can see this when Mustapha is authorizing Bernard to take John back to the Brave New World, “The necessary orders,” said Mustapha Mond, “are being sent to the Warden of the Reservation at this moment.
Sun-jo is a Nepalese boy who is a descendant of a Sherpa. The first time Sun-jo and Peak met was when Sun-jo was sent to bring Peak to Zopa, a Buddhist monk. Peak was wearing nothing but his boxers when he opened the door, but Sun-jo didn’t care because he understood how exciting it is to try on new climbing gear. This was the first step in their great friendship. Once Sun-jo and Peak were on their way up to base camp Zopa thought it would be better for them to train so he made them walk with heavy packs on their back and climb a wall every time that they stopped.
Based on the historical facts, Bradbury’s story “The Drummer Boy of Shiloh” presents a believable portrait of a Civil War drummer boy. The characters, their role in battle, and the dangers they faced are some of the reasons why I believe the story is historically accurate. The characters are one of the reasons why I believe it is accurate. In the story, the drummer boy “just turned fourteen,” meaning that he is within the age group that most drummer boys are, which is around 12-14 years old. The general also said that “counting both sides, there’s a hundred thousand men.” That statement also corroborates is believability because there were around 110,000 men (including casualties) at the Battle of Shiloh.
Benjamin Franklin and His 13 Virtues In part II of Benjamin Franklin’s Autobiography, he lists the 13 virtues every man should follow to establish a modeled “habitude” that would better life for all men of the time period. Although not all men of the 1780s were perfect examples of these virtues, these virtues are what the “old lights” strived to be. The virtues “occurred to [Franklin] as necessary or desirable” (Franklin, 428). The success of the nation was reliant on heading towards a similar goal - a goal to be a well-respected example for the nation. Although Franklin makes a point to say this experiment is about him, he also writes that “it may be well my posterity should be informed…” (Franklin 433).
In the book, the theme of heroism is illustrated through Atticus, Jem and Boo Radley. I will first talk about Atticus and the ways that he showed heroism. The first example is when Scout asks, “ If you shouldn’t be defendin’ him, then why are you doin’ it?” (Lee, 75). Atticus says he took the trial because if he didn’t he wouldn’t be able to hold his head up or represent the county in the legislature. The reason this shows heroism is because he stood up for what he believed

Chris McCandless was in his early 20’s, he was the kind of that guy that wanted to learn and experience life without all of the material things. He wanted to be independent from his parents and friends so Chris did something that would be insane for most of us humans but to him, it wasn’t. He went into the wild of Alaska for months, in fact, McCandless even thought he could make it out alive at the end of his journey. As a matter of fact, he was known as being a risk taker and enjoyed being out and about in the nature side of the world. Many would believe that Chris McCandless went into the wild to purposely kill himself; however, I myself believe that McCandless did not do it purposely.
Since 1910, Boy Scouts of America (or BSA) has been one of the nation’s largest youth development organizations. BSA aims to create a generation of skilled and responsible young men who can be productive to their society. Throughout years, BSA kept inspiring youth to join its programs with its legitimate policy, which is set of rules that exist in the Scout’s Oauth Law. However, under new oppositions from different organizations, a delegate representing boy scouts has voted to adopt new changes on their membership policies that would allow homosexual scouts to join as members. For many years, BSA believed that homosexuality is inconsistent with its activities and spirit of scouting.
Excelling when it comes to grades and on the football field. When it comes to grades I display leadership by giving help to those who are struggling in an area I’m eminent in. Also, being the only boy in my grade level to be inducted into the National Jr Honor Society should mean something as well. But in football, this is the area where I display the most leadership. One example, would be last season in the championship game.
I was in National Junior Honor Society in junior high; since then it has been a goal of mine to be in the National Honor Society in high school as well. I love helping others and getting things done when other people are not able to. I am extremely adaptable to any situation I am put in and get along very well with others. I have leadership experience in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, I am also in a position at my job that gives me a lot of influence and leadership. At work, if people need something they will generally come to me before my boss because 95% of the time I am am able to help them.
