Have you ever wondered what a Iditarod race is all about? Well now you will. The Iditarod is about sled dogs and their owners have to travel from one side of Alaska to another. Some parts of the race is outstanding, other parts you just want to go home. The owners have to make sure the dogs are well taken care of. They have to make sure the sled dogs get enough food, resting place, and many other crucial things. The Iditarod is a significant event because it is a tribute to Alaska’s history and the role sled dogs played, it preserves the historic Iditarod trail, and it saves the sled dog culture and Alaskan Huskies.
First, the Iditarod is a significant event because it is a tribute to Alaska’s history and the role sled dogs played. The passage states that sled dog culture and Alaskan Huskies were being phased out of existence due to snowmobiles. More and more people are using more snowmobiles rather than sled dogs. All of those people going to the race for themselves will be excited because the sled dogs would be ready to race and it might get intense. It will also save the sled dogs career. The passage also states that mushers spend an entire year getting the supplies and raising money to get to Nome and it is all for the dogs.
