Dear IMIM team,

It is my great honor to introduce myself with my academic background, my interest, and my aspiration to the prestigious Master course – IMIM program.

My name is Miss Thanthima Suwanthawornkul. I graduated in Pharmacy and I am currently working as a Research Assistant at Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP), a research unit under the Bureau of Health Policy and Strategy, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand.

My major responsibility at HITAP is conducting economic evaluation studies as well as supporting policy makers, experts and scholars by developing and optimizing criteria for selecting medicines into the National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM) – pharmaceutical reimbursement list. As a result, the improvements of rectifying clinical practice guidelines for teaching in medical schools and also health insurance policies. One of the biggest challenges that I encountered during the criteria development process for the NLEM was to prioritize existing health issues in an appropriate manner that reflected the needs of population. For example, grouping medicines based on their indications and scoring them with criteria such as safety and efficacy, cost-effectiveness, affordability etc. might not be suitable for every medicine. …show more content…
