Dear IMIM team,
It is my great honor to introduce myself with my academic background, my interest, and my aspiration to the prestigious Master course – IMIM program.
My name is Miss Thanthima Suwanthawornkul. I graduated in Pharmacy and I am currently working as a Research Assistant at Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP), a research unit under the Bureau of Health Policy and Strategy, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand.
My major responsibility at HITAP is conducting economic evaluation studies as well as supporting policy makers, experts and scholars by developing and optimizing criteria for selecting medicines into the National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM) – pharmaceutical reimbursement list. As a result, the improvements of rectifying clinical practice guidelines for teaching in medical schools and also health insurance policies. One of the biggest challenges that I encountered during the criteria development process for the NLEM was to prioritize existing health issues in an appropriate manner that reflected the needs of population. For example, grouping medicines based on their indications and scoring them with criteria such as safety and efficacy, cost-effectiveness, affordability etc. might not be suitable for every medicine.

I am confident that IMIM program will fulfill my pursuit of an advanced education and provide me a wide range of knowledge and perspective not only theoretical methods but also ability to implement the policy in the real-world
A doctor should always take into consideration what is best for their patients without being influenced by anyone. In Stephanie Saul’s article “Drug Makers Pay for Lunch as they Pitch” she discusses how pharmaceutical companies use free lunches as an incentive to influence Doctors to prescribe their brand drugs. Many see this situation of pharmaceutical companies purchasing meals for a Doctor’s entire office as not having any effect on the doctor’s decision to prescribe their brand. The reality is that these free lunches do influence a doctor to prescribe a certain brand drug when writing a patient’s prescription. A doctor should consider what is the best option for a patient something that is affordable and if the case is that a name brand drug is the best option it should not be influenced by the pharmaceutical company in any way.
A new oral pharmaceutical drug for type- two diabetes had been approved for clinical use, it was called Compound 17392. Marketing companies instantly wanted to have prescribers adopt and sell the product and researchers wanted to further investigate previous reports of liver toxicity in patients. Now since paying patients to try new pharmaceutical drugs was an issue due to it appearing to interfere with clinical judgement and upholding the duty to do what is best for the patient, a new idea of furthering research for the drug came into play. The idea included recruiting a group of physicians who were in the top ten percent of prescribers for type-two diabetes. Following regulations put in place by researchers, these physicians were to enter eligible patients into the trial for Compound

Many people come across roadblocks through their journey of life. I know I've had my fair share of them. The biggest bump in my academic life was changing it completely upside down. Growing up african American or with any skin that holds the slightest of pigment is not easy, but that's obvious due to our nation's past. Racism and stereotypeing has always been there.
There are many positive attributes and assets that I possess. One of them is I am hard working; this will help our FFA chapter because I will venture to make a better and stronger chapter. Another positive attribute is I am reliable; I will strive to be at all of the meetings and activities that the chapter will bestow upon me. Last of all, I am a leader because I am passionate about the things I do while being open minded to the opinions of others. The FFA Chapter has many activities for members to participate in.
I have a heart for service and a strong desire to make a difference in people’s lives. Becoming a nurse I will be able to fulfill my passion of making a positive impact on individual lives on a daily basis. I will be able to fulfill my nurturing and caring desires of helping others. With this in mind, the process of getting treatment on such chronic diseases has led to increases on the cost of health care on individuals affected. Another factor that has led to the increase in cost of health care is the emerging of new procedures, drugs and technology that are coming up for treating diseases. ZHANG Shiyuan_HRM Human Recourse Management fascinates for me for the dynamism and challenge that it provides. A vital cog in the machinery of any business to maximize employee productivity, it is an interdisciplinary field relevant to the knowledge in policies and industries, business environment, organizational culture, essential skills in negotiation and leadership. I am hugely interested in grasping HRM knowledge for further integration with strategy consulting and management, which will be essential for establishing my career path. My first degree in International Communication Studies, which places great emphasis on analytical and highly interdisciplinary approach, has cultivated me with the literacy of communication, a significant quality needed for a practitioner in media and culture.
Pranav Patil Computer Science STATEMENT OF PURPOSE INTRO I believe that the ability to invent, innovate and discover is what has propelled man to the echelons of success. Throughout my life, I have been driven by the desire to “create”, a capability that transcends the passive acquisition of knowledge. It is always the unknown path that has enthralled me more than known terrain. In a world where everything from fighter jets to elevators, interactive graphic displays to digital watches, is driven by computers, I found it difficult not to get fascinated by the technology involved.
