The ministry of love was where most of the police brutality occurred along with making arrests.

Humankind, real or fictional, are constantly manipulating each other and looking to others to place blame and hate. The most common victims of this behaviour are the undesirable of society, the outcasts who are easy to hate and condemn. This is an issue that was portrayed by Arthur Miller in The Crucible as a reflection of his own times and horrors of McCarthyism, and still plagues modern society with equally disastrous consequences. According to the Associated Press (2015), in the politics of prison, “sex offenders are marked men because they account for a disproportionate number of victims. To elaborate, in California, these types of prisoners are killed at a rate that is double the national average, most of the time by violence-prone cell mates or by the general prison population”. Sex criminals do not even manage to earn respect by other criminals because they are viewed as uncontrollable animals with abnormal urges and desires. We are able to see them in the media, especially in television shows such as To Catch a Predator and Law

In many of these communities, such as Clonard, law and order ceased to exist. The police were largely distrusted. ‘Justice’ dished out by the paramilitaries was often extremely brutal, with victims being most commonly kneecapped.
